Last week, ELC welcomed students for our three week American Conversational English session! In this program students travel around DC and improve their speaking skills! After orientation where we learned about Georgetown, we enjoyed a pizza party lunch!

What better way to enjoy the summertime than with a barbecue picnic! ELC enjoyed grilled hotdogs and hamburgers as we relaxed and played lawn games at Fletcher's Cove Boathouse by the Potomac. Congratulations to our bocce ball champion!

To celebrate the Stanley Cup, we're sharing our recent trip to see DC's hockey team, the Washington Capitals! ELC enjoyed watching our boys in red play a great game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Go Caps!

In May, Hoyas celebrated Georgetown Day, the celebration of the end of classes for the year! With performances from the GU Pep Band, free food, games, and activities like building your own stuffed bulldog, it's easy to see why this is a Hoya's favorite holiday!

ELC took advantage of Washington's beautiful spring weather with a kayaking trip on the Potomac River! Potomac kayaking is a Georgetown tradition, and our students enjoyed getting out in nature and learning how to paddle.

On Thursday, the ELC celebrated the end of spring classes with our Closing Ceremony! We recognized the hard work our students have done over the last few months then had a reception. Students enjoyed refreshments and said goodbye to their friends and teachers.

What better way to celebrate spring than with a picnic? The ELC dinned at the beautiful National Arboretum, enjoying lunch together then taking a stroll through the scenic grounds. At the Arboretum, you can see tiny trees at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum!

Last week was peak bloom for Washington's famous cherry trees, and ELC celebrated with a trip to the Tidal Basin for the National Cherry Blossom Festival! Our students enjoyed the festival music and admired the monuments on the mall surrounded by pink blossoms! #GeorgetownELC

Happy Women's History Month! In March, Dr. Sigrun Lucas led her News Class at ELC in an activity about the history of WHM. Students researched the origins of WHM then published a newsletter highlighting famous women from around the world!

Our students love the Maker Hub, the place on campus where you can use technology from 3D and laser printing to crafts like painting to make your own masterpiece! ELC did a printmaking workshop, learning how to carve stamps to create works of art! #GeorgetownELC

One of the great parts of Prof. Overman's Intensive Professional English class is getting to go on field trips! IPE takes advantage of DC's museums, and they had a great time learning about science and art at the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery! #GeorgetownELC

The ELC celebrated the arrival of the new students starting in March with a fun team building game - draw a picture of a DC tourist! The students had a great time with their art, drawing people with big cameras, Metro maps, and beautiful cherry blossoms. #GeorgetownELC

A soccer match is always exciting with DC United, Washington's professional team! The ELC got the whole game experience at Audi Field, cheering on our boys in black, enjoying gameday snacks, and watching the victory fireworks show for their romp over Charlotte FC! #GeorgetownELC

Prof. Andrew Screen gave a workshop on a popular topic: Strategies for Success. With useful tips about preparation, punctuality, and attitude, Prof. Screen presented the workshop as a game while helping guide the students through great advice for school and life!
