Visiting Khartoum where this conflict began almost three years ago.
Despite the destruction, there are fragile signs of hope as families begin to return and rebuild.
The international community must do more, urgently, to bring an end to #Sudan’s suffering.
The UK, GPE’s longest-standing partner, continues to champion global education 🇬🇧 At the #MultiplyPossibility launch in London, partners reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to helping millions more children learn and unlocking opportunity for every child.
@ItalyinUK@Georgewgraham
This is a vital intervention from the Foreign Secretary today.
The horrors children in Sudan are facing must not be normalised.
Globally, sexual violence committed against girls and boys has doubled over the last five years – and violations are at record highs. Children must be protected and international humanitarian law must be upheld.
This is not up for debate: it is an indisputable fact and a legal duty owed to every child.
The UK can help to protect children by publishing its first ever Children and Armed Conflict Strategy. And for children in Sudan, the UK must use every lever at their disposal to stop the violence and protect children.

Our response to Reform’s proposal to cap the overseas aid budget at £1bn 👇
“Slashing the budget for international aid and co-operation won’t just turn our backs on children and partners around the world, it will undermine our national interest.
COVID19 was a stark demonstration that no-one is safe until everyone is. And the UK’s security and economy depend on global stability. Conflict, poverty, and climate disasters drive displacement, fuel instability, and ultimately threaten our safety at home.
Our recent polling with More in Common shows that more than 60% of people think the UK should either be a leader or play a large role in international affairs. The public know that you don’t create prosperity by pretending global issues don’t exist. Britain is a member of the global community and playing its part will help to ensure better futures for children in the UK and around the world.”
- George Graham, Executive Director of Global Impact at Save the Children UK
Gaza’s children are enduring unimaginable suffering. On @bbcworldservice’s The Interview podcast I spoke about our work in Gaza, risks for staff, how this conflict has trashed the rules of war and my previous visit in 2008 when Israel imposed a blockade.

#Gaza ~ humanitarian goods & access are being used as instruments of war & occupation. This pattern goes back 20 yrs
Children are dying
PM @number10gov must act with partners to turn words into action

🌎 Today is #MineActionDay, a day we should be celebrating the success of the #MineBanTreaty. But, sadly, this life-saving agreement is now under threat.
Here's our 4 reasons why landmines should not be brought back into use.

"The UK’s sudden decision to slash its aid budget by 40% poses a huge risk to people with disabilities, including people stranded near the frontlines in Ukraine and Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh."

Kids in bunkers learning about bombs.
I'm so grateful to @FrancisDearnley, @jleather, @adeliepjz and @Telegraph for visiting this project and reporting on our work, and I'm so proud of my colleagues for running it. But I'm also just so sorry that this is their childhood.
In Kharkiv, #Ukraine, children go to school in the Metro. HI's teams organise sessions to teach them about the risks from unexploded bombs.
Thanks to @FrancisDearnley@jleather &
@adeliepjz for your powerful pieces.

Huge thanks to @Telegraph for choosing @HI_UK as a charity partner for this year's Christmas fundraising appeal. We're honoured and grateful. All funds raised will support our work in Ukraine. https://t.co/CcCdhSTLi7
Thank you @SarahChampionMP for raising this crucial issue. Some of the cases our teams in #Gaza are seeing are too horrific to describe. And not only are lives being lost, but untreated injuries are becoming life-long disabilities. We're talking about 10s of 1000s of children.
❗ Zeina Salhani, Operations Manager at HI Lebanon, spoke on Times Radio about the dire struggles in #Lebanon. Our teams are on the ground helping those in urgent need, but the situation is overwhelming.
Will you help us continue our life-saving work? https://t.co/QRtCDkXLIL
In response to my column, a charity told me about their vital fundraising to help disabled people in Gaza. They provide anything from wheelchairs to physio support. The demand is staggering and all help greatly appreciated.

@DrFrancesRyan Huge thanks for encouraging people to contribute to our appeal. I can't speak highly enough of our colleagues in Gaza who are doing so much while themselves enduring so much. Your support means such a lot.
There's no hierarchy between war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide; they are all equally awful to their victims. @philippesands #CALecture24
A powerful and urgent response to @hrw's excellent report on the horrors endured by children with disabilities in #Gaza. Thank you, @DrFrancesRyan https://t.co/2vrnbLpFL8
