@Celdazero @4getwhatuheard @taintedavenue You’re right that the temperature at which coffee is brewed has not changed however it is agreed that 180F is too high a temperature to serve it. McDs have also now changed the design of their cup. There had also been more than 700 burn cases, implying this issue was longstanding

@Celdazero @4getwhatuheard @taintedavenue The coffee was served at 190 °F (88 °C), and as someone has already stated was 20 degrees higher than the average in the same city. A paper (https://t.co/4kd3Iaw8fe) found that “to balance both safety and consumer preference, temperatures…. of 130 to 160°F are recommended”.

@saintsoftness @nekocora My little girl is approx 6 months and weighs 1.8kg (3.9lbs) so I guess since yours is about half of her age that tracks quite well. My vet is happy with her as well which is reassuring

In ancient Greece, women were forbidden to study medicine for several years until someone broke the law. Born in 300 BC, Agnodice cut her hair and entered Alexandria medical school dressed as a man. While walking the streets of Athens after completing her medical education, she heard the cries of a woman in labour. However, the woman did not want Agnodice to touch her although she was in severe pain, because she thought Agnodice was a man. Agnodice proved that she was a woman by removing her clothes without anyone seeing and helped the woman deliver her baby.

The story would soon spread among the women and all the women who were sick began to go to Agnodice. The male doctors grew envious and accused Agnodice, whom they thought was male, of seducing female patients. At her trial, Agnodice, stood before the court and proved that she was a woman but this time, she was sentenced to death for studying medicine and practicing medicine as a woman.

Women revolted at the sentence, especially the wives of the judges who had given the death penalty. Some said that if Agnodice was killed, they would go to their deaths with her. Unable to withstand the pressures of their wives and other women, the judges lifted Agnodice's sentence, and from then on, women were allowed to practice medicine, provided they only looked after women.

Thus, Agnodice made her mark in history as the first Greek female doctor, physician and gynecologist. This plaque depicting Agnodice at work was excavated at Ostia, Italy.

@zygradel @AliHusain82 @ben_hock As for “complaining” about climate change, NHS staff are obliged to deal with any public health issues that affect our population. Pollution and natural disasters and rising temperatures are all public health crises relating to climate change, so it is their job.

There’s a huge gap in health outcomes between people of different social groups, in part due to subconscious biases and lack of understanding. It’s required to keep people alive, the same as learning what meds to give.

That’s why people complain they can’t see a GP, or that they wait in A&E for hours, or that waitlists are too long. Doctors aren’t getting what they signed up for and so are leaving.

@zygradel @ben_hock Medicine is a 5-6 year degree which you have to do about 2-4 years of work experience and specific a levels for, meaning any doctor starting this year would have chosen their career 7-10 years ago. 7 years ago a doctor’s salary was worth far more than it is now due to inflation.
