@DialgaMarine92 @fwmann1e Just because an element is heated doesn't mean that it requires fire chi. Waterbenders can freeze water and create steam. Airbenders can control the temperature of the air around them. Earthbenders can therefore create lava and cool it. The level of power needed changes though.

This was always going to be the lore, regardless of people insinuating that something changed along the way.

@Righteous_Donut @anime_daily If you are asking about after the war ended, Aang did find out about them in the new movie and that is why Tenzin has Oogi. They probably never actively seeked him out to ensure absolute secrecy, because as we see in S3E7, there are willing poachers to hunt them down.

That's my headcanon now.

The meta reason could be the older animation made it look more rugged, the lore reason could be that the alloy they used might have more uniformed impurities so it bends more smoothly.

@HSsai @Celebrimb051 They are talking about when Katara healed herself in the Deserter episode after beind burned, before they ever made contact with the Northern Water Tribe. It is something that she just had and found out when needed. And I have no issues with that, same with Bolin's abilities.

@Sageblavk @Fenrirtheicewo1 Airbenders can adjust the temp of the surrounding air to regulate body temp, waterbenders can freeze water and create steam, earthbenders (although rare) can create lava (and subdue it) and some firebenders can heatbend.
