One reason I'm biased towards IDE AI engineering vs TUI is I feel like the terminal interface makes me yolo so much garbage code.

In the IDE I feel like I'm faced with the stark reality of files, diffs, etc. in a much more visceral way.

In the terminal I'm like brrr goes tokens yummy green diff lfg.

I'd bet my claude code/codex PRs are statistically larger than my cursor PRs.
