"Fred Smith was one of the finest Americans of our generation. He built an innovative company that helped supercharge our economy. FedEx changed the way we live and do business. My Yale fraternity brother loved America. He was a citizen, not a spectator. He served as a Marine in Vietnam and was rightly proud of his association with our military. I twice asked him to serve as Secretary of Defense, and he declined twice only because of his devotion to his family. Laura and I send our condolences to Fred's beloved children and grandchildren and his wife, Diane."
--President George W. Bush
Do you believe there’ll be a cure for ALS?
I do. Do I believe it’s close, no. Unfortunately, there’s still way too many unknowns about the disease for it to be cured soon. I do still have hope for a future without ALS. Hope is what drives my life & my fight. Hope to see tomorrow.
This is one of the most moving interviews I’ve ever done. Meet Steve Gleason. He is a titan in the field of ALS. His foundation, Team Gleason, has donated more than 40 million dollars in equipment, technology, and care services to people living with ALS. Steve, himself, is living with ALS.
Disability isn’t a partisan issue. When I see Gus Walz proud to see his dad on stage……..I see my daughter Kinsley who has clapped for me.
Stop stigmatizing disability and learning disorders and join us in making the American Dream possible for everyone. #Disability#inclusion
Proverbs 29 mentions wisdom, the benefits of humility over pride, the need to teach discipline to our children & demonstrating self-control. My dad was a great example for us in controlling anger. Simply venting anger won’t always make a situation better-I’m still working on that
Sad to read of the passing of Abdul “Duke” Fakir - the last original member of my favourite vocal group, The Four Tops. We are all in the shadow of their love and it was a thrill to meet him. My condolences to his family and friends. @elviscostello
#OnThisDay in 1981 Sandra Day O’Connor made history as the first woman nominated to the Supreme Court.
She represents the best of AZ women: trailblazing, determined, and fiercely independent.
Today, as we commemorate the 85th anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s legendary “Luckiest Man” speech, we are honored to be joined by some of the most dedicated and inspiring local organizations in the fight against ALS: @ALSofGNY, @ALS_RideForLife, @HerALSStory, @iamalsorg, and Quinn for the Win.
To help “Strike Out ALS” please text “ALS” to 44321.
With all this talk of New York and New Jersey earthquakes seemed like a good time to remind y’all about the real beast that has laid quietly in the eastern United States. If you are new to following me, do some research on the New Madrid fault line. Would be incredible far reaching impact if 1811 and 1812 happened in modern times again.
