here’s some thoughts:

— The pre-planned chants have to be accessible, whether that’s shared on digital media, maybe video recorded, Tik Tok, here, older fans on Facebook. We have to know what we’re chanting. Could even be on the Jumbotron.

— Call and Response chants could be huge. Think when an alley oop happens. Half the jackals point to half the arena and shout ALLEY while the other half points to the other half and goes OOOOOOOOOPPPPPP. Consistency matters here.

— Player-specific chants are great, but for the crowd engagement part, focus on the game itself. Timeouts, coach’s challenges, getting energy back into the game after dull moments should be key. I understand the PA talking over issue, but if this is a fan section, be loud. Talk over the PA. They have mics/speakers for a reason. Be the segue for the moments of inaction.

— Tie things back to San Antonio broadly, think We Will Rock You beat, but with MEEP MEEP HOWWWLLLL MEEP MEEP HOWWWLLLLL. Involve the Coyote.

— Coordinated movements. When opposing teams airball, everyone duck for cover. Need big movements for the rest of the crowd to see and identify. Everyone’s clapping and waving their arms - how can you distinguish between a normal fan and a jackal. Physicality matters. Find movements for certain players. Luke Kornet celebrations. People will copy over time.

— Lastly, I want to see more leadership. I think of the jackals like the fan delegate to game management. If the in-arena announcers are hosting the game, the jackals are hosting the fans. Direct instructions may not land, so how do you make those instructions engaging? How can you make them accessible? How can you make them consistent enough to be replicated?

Yap sesh OVER. Best of luck to the Jackals. Hopefully this doesn’t come across as too critical, I wanna see them succeed bad.

De’Aaron Fox’ willingness/understanding of just taking a slight back seat when the other guards are on heaters this year has been overlooked.

Has had several games where he’s looked absolutely fantastic as a facilitator/playmaker.
