What a pleasure! So honored that famous journalist Walter Bingham shared his life stories with me. At 102, he has crystal clear memories of Nazi Germany, escaping to Britain, and his Aliyah at 80. Today, he is the world‘s oldest working journalist. Danke, lieber Walter!
Ambassadors come and go, and I have known quite a few over the years, but there are few who have invested as much time and effort as @GerAmbTLV Steffen Seibert has in truly getting to know Israel and Israelis.
From learning Hebrew to hiking the entire Israel Trail from north to south, and in meeting with countless Israelis and listening to their stories, Steffen has proven to be a true and devoted friend of Israel throughout his time here.
I have had the pleasure of spending quite a lot time with him in recent years and, like many Israelis of all backgrounds and walks of life, will miss him very much.
Viel Glück, Steffen, and lehitra’ot! 🇩🇪🇮🇱
.@yadvashem will open its first education centre outside Israel in Germany. Today they announced that it will be in Munich. What an opportunity (and responsibility) to take Holocaust education and remembrance into the future. Thank you, Yad Vashem, for the trust you put in us.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
Too much energy in the room to squeeze into one picture. Young Ambassadors from Ra‘anana told me about their trips to Germany. Their impression: „Germans are quiet introverts“. We will work on that.
