Ali Suleman and Siem Eyob are currently at Cairo Airport on their way to Asmara. Ali has been excelling in the Egyptian League, ranking among the top goal scorers, while Siem from Sheffield United is also performing exceptionally well. Additionally, Eritrea's outstanding goalkeeper, Jonathan Sultan, is in excellent shape! The excitement to be in Asmara is palpable. With such talent and determination, the future of our team looks incredibly bright!

#Eritrea n Referees appointed for Sudan vs Comoros Olympic Qualifier in Casablanca, Morocco – 4 June 2026

Two Eritrean match officials Referee: Suzana Semere Yohannes (Eritrea) Assistant Referee 1: Yohana Negasi Tesfagiorgis (Eritrea) have been selected by FIFA to officiate the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2028 African Zone preliminary round match between Sudan and Comoros.

The first-leg encounter will take place at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, as part of the African Zone – Round 1 qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The Eritrea National Team recently visited the iconic Fiat Tagliero building in Asmara, a site renowned for its architectural significance and symbolic importance to the nation. While exploring this historical landmark, the team experienced a serene, joyful atmosphere and took in the rich cultural heritage surrounding them. During their visit, they also took time to appreciate other notable sites in Asmara, learning about the city's history and significance. In the coming days, the team plans to travel to Massawa, where they will continue training while further immersing themselves in the local culture and environment.

What a fantastic ending to a beautiful commemoration. In the presence of H.E. Isaias Afwerki, ministers, senior officials of the People's Front for Democracy and Justice, military commanders, religious leaders, diplomats, youth, and families gathered at #Asmara Stadium, the magnificent fireworks display is more than a celebration, it is a powerful expression of #Eritrea’s national journey.

Every sparkle that illuminated the Asmara night sky carried the memory of sacrifice, resilience, and triumph. Each burst of light symbolized the courage of the martyrs, the steadfastness of the tegadelti, and the unbreakable bond between the Eritrean people and their hard-won sovereignty.

As the colors danced above the stadium, they reflected the hopes of a nation that has endured immense trials yet continues to stand with dignity, confidence, and unity 35 years after independence. *"...The establishment of a new global order founded upon fairness and justice must be regarded as one of humanity’s foremost missions and should not be relegated to the side-lines".

*"...Last year, I addressed issues in what we call our neighbourhood; specifically, the Nile Basin, the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf, with particular reference to Ethiopia and the Sudan. Because the global vulnerability of the region has worsened, following the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, the importance of collective security mechanism based on an agreement and cooperation among the States in the neighbourhood – rather than the normalized interventionist policies of self-proclaimed regional powers and external actors – that we have been advocating for long has, once again, become abundantly clear.  It is high-time that serious efforts are exerted towards this end".

*"...As it will be recalled, I had elaborated, during last year’s Independence Day celebrations, on our development programmes and priorities across various sectors. While the concept itself is not new, the short-term objective remains improving our people’s livelihood, with priority to marginalized and underserved regions.  The broader and long-term development programme consists of extricating the country from subsistence economy.  It encompasses strengthening productivity, ensuring sustainable growth in production, laying the foundations for advanced processing and value-added industrial manufacturing, and service sectors. Beyond the economic dimension, these priorities also extend to encompass the diplomatic and informational domains".

*"...Road and transportation projects will be expanded according to plan. Extensive housing programmes will also proceed in parallel.  Implementation of projects aimed at expanding electricity and water services will start within this year in spite of potential delays in supply chains.  In the sphere of social services, particular emphasis will be placed on education, beginning from the pre-school level with broad popular participation. Likewise, the expansion of quality healthcare services will be pursued vigorously".

Some celebrations are loud, but #Eritrea35 in Zurich was absolute magic! 🇨🇭✨ The energy was unmatched, but the true highlight of my night was a deeply humbling moment of connection with two absolute titans of Eritrean culture.

I had the immense privilege of meeting the legendary singers Eng. Asgedom and Mihret Zerhanes! 🎤👑

Hearing their warmth and respect was incredibly grounding. I expressed my deepest appreciation for their lifelong devotion to Eritrean music and arts—they have truly shaped the soundtrack of a nation's resilience.

Here is why this night will stay with me forever:

🔴 A Humbled Heart: Receiving praise from icons you deeply respect is a feeling words can barely capture. 🔵 Cultural Giants: Eng. Asgedom and Mihret Zerhanes aren't just artists; they are living repositories of Eritrean history and spirit.
🟢 Global Fever: While Zurich was unforgettable, Eritreans absolutely torched the scale globally this year, with the home celebrations topping them all!
