6 years ago I got the worst email from OSU, and thought all my dreams were crushed.
Exactly 1 year ago I got the best email from OSU. It was a long journey in between.
@futuredocNat I know this exact feeling. 1st gen. Worked 1-2 jobs all throughout college. Nearly got kicked out of undergrad for my first year GPA, and it never really recovered. No docs in my family. But got my 1 acceptance. That’s all you need!
Why did I bring my undergrad engineering notes to med school? For moments like this where I can dig thru to find the derivation of why the time constant in neuron action potentials = 63% of its peak level. Despite this, I still don’t understand what an action potential is.
My little sister sent me this. This is my favorite teacher from high school and 10 years later she has him as her engineering teacher. Incredible surprise to see this morning. I have such a deep respect the great teachers that have been a part of my life.
Another Copt joins the @OhioStateMed family. Who would’ve thought the two guys working behind bulletproof glass in a Hollywood, Fl corner-store would meet again to study medicine, here of all places. Incredibly proud of this guy @MDawodMD
@DrQuinnCapers4 Persistence, determination, and prayer 🙏. Thank you so much Dr. Capers! I only wish it could have been you on the other end of the phone call
“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb ... Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent." -Calvin Coolidge.
Congratulations!
I think about the random people and interactions in my life who contributed to my journey in choosing medicine, and I don’t think they even know.
But I find it beautiful to hope that my random encounters with another human will also contribute positively to their journey in life
Premed & engineering was a traumatic combo in undergrad, but a seeing physics principals come up in med school actually makes me incredibly excited.
It shouldn’t be “technology vs. healthcare workers”. Technology has the potential to restore the patient-physician relationship that has been impeded on in the last decade. Thank you to the #innovationStudio for helping me and #OSUCOM students dive into this mission. @osunursing
