Today I was asked, what do teachers do in the summer with 2 months off? I thought carefully before responding, the school year is like a marathon so the first month of summer is spent recovering and the second month is spent training and preparing for the next one. 😉 Point made!
@katiebaker190@ncte Actively choose to celebrate one child each day. Do this in a small non intrusive way, a genuine compliment, call to parent or hand written note. Their reaction helps me make it through anything.
Don't always rush to help students on their classwork. Don't rush to help them with their social issues.
We need to let students struggle through things sometimes, stand on their own two feet, in order to develop students that are resilient and problem-solvers. #growthmindset
Boredom is important for kids to experience. "The ability to handle boredom, not surprisingly, is correlated with the ability to focus and to self-regulate." @PamelaPaulNYT https://t.co/2mtqUXFynh via @nytimes
THIS is profound! As parents & educators, we hold such a delicate responsibility as we engage with our children. Think before you speak & act. Be thoughtful & kind! #BeKindEdu#KidsDeserveIt#TLAP#NCSW19
