Alexis Forbes and Omar Dominguez are in the Master’s of Medical Science with a concentration in Molecular Medicine program. Nidhikumari Prajapti is in the Master’s of Biotechnology program.
We would like to welcome two members to Ghansah Lab. Brandell is a graduate student in the Master of Medical Sciences program. Michael is an undergraduate student majoring in Biomedical Sciences.
Some projects include PDAC Pre-clinical and Clinical immunology assays, etc.
Last week we celebrated World IP Day on April 26th. In honor of that, we would like to recognize Dr. Ghansah for her participation in the World IP Day Women Innovators article. Thank you Dr. Ghansah for your work and for inspiring young women in STEM.

This week in Ghansah Lab we would like to recognize lab member Logan Ziegler for her acceptance into the Morsani College of Medicine MD Select program. Logan has been a vital member of the lab this year and we are excited to see her future accomplishments. Congratulations Logan!
Today we would like to recognize NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson. Johnson's notable achievements at NASA include trajectory analysis work for the first human spaceflight (Freedom 7) and being the first woman of the Flight Research Division to receive research author credit.
For Women's History Month we would like to first highlight Mathematician Mary Jackson, who is well known for her depiction in the movie "Hidden Figures". Mary's position was central to the development of the space program. She later became the first Black female engineer at NASA.
For the last Monday in Black History Month, we would like to highlight Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett who serves as the scientific lead for the Coronavirus Vaccines and Immunopathogenesis Team at NIH. Dr. Corbett's research is in vaccine development to enhance pandemic preparedness.
We would like to draw attention to USF Alumni and HBCU Meharrian Dr. Glenn Simmons. Dr. Simmons works as an Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology at Cornell University with a research focus on inflammation, cancer progression and diagnostic disparities in communities of color.
For this week we would like to highlight USF Alumni and former Ghansah lab member, Dr. Nadege Gunn. Dr. Gunn is an established Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at IMPACT Research Institute with a focus on liver related illnesses and potential therapies.
In honor of Black History Month, we would like to recognize an early pioneer in immunology. Onesimus was an African slave that introduced variolation, saving many lives in the 1721 smallpox epidemic. Variolation was then widely accepted, depleting the smallpox death rate globally
