Clearly exhausted and struggling to stay awake, baby Preston Davey is seen in heartbreaking footage released by police just weeks before his death.

A jury has now found Jamie Varley, 37, guilty in connection with the abuse, neglect, and murder of 13-month-old Preston.

Investigators say the video shows Preston repeatedly trying to fall asleep, the night before his 1st birthday... while loud music plays in the background, only to be startled awake moments later with one of his adoptive fathers screaming "BOO!"

Prosecutors argued that Preston endured unimaginable suffering in the weeks leading up to his death. The toddler was later found to have suffered dozens of injuries... including internal from SA.

The case has shocked many, serving as a painful reminder that the most vulnerable children depend entirely on the adults entrusted to protect them.
