I want to introduce you to Steve. He’s 83. His wife died a few months ago and he comes to this lodge in Spring Mill, Indiana and draws. He taught art in Terre Haute, IN his whole life. He also did courtroom sketches in court cases. In the comments I’ll share some pics from his sketchbook. He was excited when I said I was going to share his sketches with the world.
Challenge Accepted! Ryder of Melissa,Texas has stepped up to make a difference and accepting our 50 yard challenge , committing to mow 50 free yards for those in need in his community. This is what it’s all about. Welcome to the family, Ryder!
Twin sisters Tia and Jasmin Criss have made history by graduating as valedictorian and salutatorian of Cheyney University — the nation’s oldest HBCU.
Tia, with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earned valedictorian honors, while Jasmin, with a 3.9 GPA, is salutatorian. The Philadelphia natives completed their degrees and walked the stage on May 9, 2026, showcasing excellence, resilience, and unbreakable sisterhood.
They credit their late father’s guidance and their mother’s support for fueling their success. Their story is a powerful example of Black brilliance and the strength of HBCU education. Their father would surely be beaming with pride. 🙏🏿
Today, I met Antoine, a 12-year-old young man who joined me for a day of mowing. It was his very first time, and he told me it’s something he wants to continue doing here in Chicago. He shared that he wants to help keep his community looking its best while serving those in need. Inspired by his heart for service, I surprised him with his own set of lawn care equipment so he can continue making a difference, one lawn at a time.
When he was 12 years old, Christophe Maleau swam 40 kilometers from Saint Lucia 🇱🇨 to Martinique 🇲🇶 to support his mother and raise breast cancer awareness.
He completed the crossing in October 2020. He started from Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia at 5:10 a.m. and reached Sainte Anne after 13 hours, 50 minutes, and 47 seconds.
The swim was part of the Octobre Rose breast cancer awareness campaign. Maleau did it for his mother, Murielle, who was diagnosed with the disease when he was nine years old. He described the experience as enriching and, above all, an act of self-transcendence.
Family, help me give a BIG welcome to Brexton & Javi of Fort Dodge,Iowa. These two amazing young leaders have stepped up to take on the 50 Yard Challenge, committing to mow 50 FREE lawns for the elderly, disabled, single parents, and veterans in their community.
