The ICE agent who shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston has been identified as Gregory Feathers, according to the Houston Tribune.

Feathers had reportedly retired from DHS but was rehired by ICE during Trump’s second term, two people with knowledge of his employment history told the newspaper. He was identified in a photograph by Salgado Araujo's brother Victor, who was in the front passenger seat at the time Lorenzo was killed, according to an unnamed official familiar with the investigation.

Salgado Araujo was a 52-year-old homebuilder and father of three, and was driving his crew to work when he was shot. DHS claimed he had attempted to weaponize his vehicle. His killing sparked protests across the country and growing demands from his family, community members and lawmakers for ICE to name the agent and allow for an independent investigation into the shooting.
