"How much does it cost to not be tweeted about by the United Nations Human Rights Office, hence avoid bad human rights press? Must it be paid in Dollars?" Good question this one !
On United Nations 'Human Rights':
France and Kenya Comparison
After French Police murdered 17 years old Nahel Merzouk of Algeria-Morocco descent and protests erupted across France, the United Nations Human Rights Office tweeted nothing about it.
Today, United Nations tweeted that 'we are very concerned' about protests in Kenya and Kenya Police and an image thereof for the whole world to see the United Nations is very busy 'working'.
But when France donated 11.5 Million USD, a tweet promptly thanked France for the whole world to see that France was a generous country, a 'defender' of human rights.
Geneva is located 400 km from Paris. Geneva is 6000 km from Nairobi. A tweet on Kenya. None on France. France shares a 572 km border with Switzerland, where UN Human Rights offices and statement-offices and spokesofficers are located. French is spoken in parts of Switzerland. A tweet on Kenya. None on France.
Nahel Merzouk was murdered by French Police on the 27th of June. In days that followed, the UN human rights office tweeted about Haiti, Myanmar, Syria, Iran, Israel-Palestine, Climate Change, Africa, Honduras.
Study their twitter handle keenly @UNHumanRights . Nothing on France protests, despite the fact that French Police murdered 17 years Nahel in cold blood and that story events after are known globally.
Only after press queries did the UN human rights office offer a very brief two-paragraph response titled ‘Press Briefing’. That briefing was never tweeted on their handle. It was tacked far away in their website.
Enter Kenya. Suddenly, the United Nations Human Rights Office tweets a photo of Kenya Police, a tweet and a link to a statement it has to make about the situation in Kenya. A tweet from the UN is not just a tweet. It carries weight. Meant to portray a country in a certain way. Travel warnings. Economy.
The question I would like to pose to Mr. Volker Türk, @volker_turk the High Commissioner for Human Rights is: are human rights of an Algerian-Moroccan 17 years old boy and human rights of all harmed by French Police during French protests of lesser ‘value’ and lesser ‘worth’ to your UN office?
If Kenya had contributed 11.5 Million US Dollars to you, would you have tweeted as you did today about the mass protests and Kenya Police? How much does it cost to not be tweeted about by the United Nations Human Rights Office, hence avoid bad human rights press? Must it be paid in Dollars?
Kindly pass on the questions to Human Rights Office spokesperson Jeremy Laurence @JeremyLaurence who gave the statement of Kenya and Ravina Shamdasani @ravinas who gave the brief press briefing on France.
France deployed 45,000 police. Over 2000 were detained. Over 2500 fires were lit. There were reported deaths and French Police brutality.
I join Kenyans in demanding that the United Nations Human Rights Office treats human rights abuses in all countries equally in reporting about them on their Twitter handle.
I join Kenyans in noting that police brutality in France must be addressed equally as Police brutality in Kenya on the UN Human Rights Twitter handle.
I call on French Police and Kenya Police to stop police brutality. Politicians in charge of the monopoly of violence in France and monopoly of violence in Kenya must avoid misusing police forces.
May the souls of those murdered by French Police and Kenya Police rest in eternal people.
May the United Nations Human Rights Office always tweet their ‘concern’ for all countries as they did for Kenya: “very concerned by widespread violence and allegations of unnecessary or disproportionate use of force by police protests.”
It is hypocritical and discriminative to tweet about Kenya but not about France. It gives hints on nuances of perceptions of blackness and whiteness in the mind of the UN. Decolonize the United Nations further even as de-dollarization fears loom.
As we say in Kiswahili-Spanish “watuth sios wajingath naniis!” (translation: thank you for a job well done!).
Tesla is recalling certain 2022-2023 Model Y vehicles: The steering wheel fastener may be loose.
Samsung recalled Galaxy Note 7, Note S7, and the S7 Edge, to fix fire issues.
Every time I read about a manufacturer recalling their faulty products .... I hope that one day in-laws will also call us, accept their mistake & recall their Product.
One day, consultants &
consulting firms will talk about the pains of Expression of Interest, Tenders, Proposal writing processes. The collective energy it takes to apply, non-profit policies, idea of lowest bidders, non-acknowlegments, cartels at U-Know where, stolen ideas....

It is likely that a crack caused the “catastrophic implosion” shortly after communication was lost on Sunday.
Video recreation of an implosion shows it would have occurred so fast, the passengers would have died instantly without being aware of what was happening.
