These last few months have been SUPER challenging as a mom teaching from home! This was very reassuring to see and I will continue to remind myself of these things! Bravo Canada!!!
I work for the Canadian federal government and they sent out an email with work at home guiding principles. It’s amazing to work for a place that speaks like this.
6th graders did a little Zoom baking for science today with @MsRankovich and me! They showed up early to make some banana bread! #bakingisscience#106learns#FunFriday
6th graders learned about their own water footprint. They also created sketch notes to show what they learned about the different types of water footprints! They will later use this information to create an H2Oath to help conserve water at home! #d106learns#helpingearth
Today 6th-Grade Science students will be analyzing seafloor structure to help prove Earth's age and movement of the plates along with learning more about how the Hawaiian Islands and the Rocky Mountains were formed. @district106@hms106hornets#d106learns#ELearning
Using a lab to understand how convection cycle creates movement in the Earth's mantle and understanding the energy that drives this process. MS-ESS2-1 #106learns
Today we brought some WWII History into Science! We discussed how the moon phases and tides played a vital role in deciding on an attack strategy for the beaches of Normandy. Students took on the role of a scientist and gave their own advice for attack time and date.
6th-grade science students spent class time creating a scale model of our solar system to better understand our place in the universe MS-ESS1-3 #106learns#alwaysmathinscience
Highlands 6th-graders learned about the first all-female spacewalking team that ventured to the ISS to fix a broken part of the ISS's power grid. They created higher-level questions for peers using Bloom's wheel. #106learns@Astro_Christina@Astro_Jessica#AllWomanSpaceWalk
6th grade Science students use Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation to find the force of gravity and prove the relationship between mass, distance, and gravity! Several students even took the extra challenge of proving the gravitational constant! #106learns#IsaacNewton
Testing out Aristotle’s and Galileo's theories of gravity in 6th grade Science today! Not sure if students were more excited to do the experiment or stand on tables :) #106learns#gravity
As we study the age of the Earth, the solar system, and the universe, we deal with HUGE numbers. To gain a better idea of the magnitude of these numbers 6th-grade students use their math skills to determine what a million looks like. #scienceismath#106learns#6thgrade
6th Grade Science students work hard to unpack the NGSS Earth and Space Science standards to better understand their goals and expectations for their Astronomy unit. #106learns#6thgrade
