As Champions Ministry celebrated its first anniversary last weekend, stories like Prima's remind us why Champions Ministry exists. Prima is the mother of Liam, and she shares how discovering Champions Ministry gave her son a safe place to learn about Jesus, and at the same time gave her the confidence to worship, knowing he was cared for. Her story is a testament to the difference a welcoming church community can make in the lives of children with additional needs and their families.
"There is being out there, and you are so miserable about your child’s condition and do not know there are people out there willing and ready to help - I got to know about this ministry last year through a cell member at Watoto Church Bweyogerere.
I wanted to enjoy service with my boy, but the moment I went to church at Watoto Church Bweyogerere, he could only manage one hour without fussing around. I was so blessed when we were introduced to the Champions' service at Watoto Church Ntinda, and all our Sundays from that time have never been the same.
In the Champions' service, I know my child is safe; he is being taught the Christian life in whichever way he can understand. At this stage, I would not expect him to take in much, but I am grateful. He even loves church; he knows the word "church" and can differentiate between school and church.
For us (families with children with special needs), any word your child says, any form of communication, or any form of sign that he does is such a big deal, so I thank the Champions Ministry for having our children. It is not easy, but I am glad he relates to church and loves it. That is a very big milestone because the first time I brought him, I could not concentrate in service because I kept wondering if he was okay since he hardly settles—he is always on the move, so I was in consistent fear that he might have escaped and gone away. After like one hour, I came and found him in one piece, and he had not made any trouble, and I was like, "This is so great."
I am so happy for the Champions Ministry. I wanted him to grow in a Christian environment, and so I brought him here because this is a genuine church, a place to grow and groom your child.
The best moment was when he mentioned the word "church," and for that reason, I am inspired to bring him to church each time."

A great truth from John Piper. When we are completely satisfied in God, it changes everything about how we live and act. When we are satisfied in Him, our actions glorify Him.
Do not lose your peace over something you can do nothing about. Take everything to God, because He is the only One who can do something about everything.
Put it down.
Hand it over.
Trust Him with it. 💛
His presence is available to you right now, and it will change everything. You don't have to have it all together to come to Him. You just have to come. Protect your time with God. You will never regret it. 💛
Jesus didn't say, "I am a way."
He said, "I am THE way."
Our confidence isn't in finding another path, it's in following Him.
John 14:6
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Jesus Plus Nothing
The Gospel isn't Jesus plus good works.
Jesus plus rituals.
Jesus plus traditions.
Jesus plus another spiritual power.
It's Christ alone.
Acts 4:12
"Salvation is found in no one else."

As followers of Jesus, we are called to discern truth from error - not by our own wisdom, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let's grow in Spirit-Empowered Discernment.
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God..." - 1 John 4:1
