My brilliant colleagues @melissa_pawson, @GigiAulsebrook and I wrote an article for Oxfords @FMReview 's latest issue published today - with my picture on the cover :)

🧵1/ Thread on the #Southport anti-migrant and anti-Muslim disinformation and propaganda. In this thread I highlight key spreaders of disinformation, the chronology, and some points about some of the inauthentic activity evident. I will focus on X.
There is plenty of money. It's just in the wrong hands.
We have a precious opportunity to end the grotesque levels of inequality in this country by taxing the rich, reversing the disaster of privatisation, and making sure every child has the resources they need to thrive.
I asked the government if it accepts the ICJ's ruling that the occupation of Palestine is illegal.
The minister told me that the judgement was "extremely complex".
What is so complex about respecting international law?
Israel can pinpoint assassinate senior leaders of Hamas & Hizbollah in hostile foreign capitals, with little ‘collateral damage’, but to try (and fail) to kill Hamas leaders in the tiny, occupied Gaza Strip, they apparently first have to kill 14,000 Palestinian kids. Ridiculous.
Today, Palestine is on the ballot.
If you re-elect me as an Independent MP in Islington North, I promise to always stand up for the people of Gaza, and for the only path to a just and lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.
Given the numerous ethical issues surrounding the original National Geographic photo (taking the photo without naming Gula, showing her uncovered face against her beliefs, her life as an uncompensated refugee while her face was famous worldwide) it strikes me as doubly gross. 3/
@muhammadshehad2@m7mdkurd Craig Mokhiber worked at the UN for 30+ years and until recently was director of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' NY office. Listen to him explain how normally intent is the hardest to prove, but in this case, intent "is an easy case to make":

Thread: Israel-Hamas war misinformation - Day 20
This viral video claims to show a Palestinian father tell his daughter to laugh every time she hears an Israeli air strike.
The clip's from 2020 and the father and daughter are Syrian, doing this in the context of the Syrian war.
My beloved father, my brothers, my sisters, their entire children have just ascended to heaven. Israel targeted our home leaving around 30 of my family killed. No injuries.
Israeli air strikes have hit Al Ahli hospital in Gaza. More than 500 people - patients, doctors & those sheltering - have been killed.
What unspeakable horror. We will mourn their loss forever.
Our leaders could have spoken up for peace. They chose to cheer on war instead.
When will they demand an end to these atrocious war crimes? How many Palestinian lives will it take to call for these indiscriminate killings to stop?
Please, for the sake of humanity, raise your voice for an immediate ceasefire. The existence of the Palestinian people is at stake.
This might be the strongest 2 minutes of analysis and condemnation of Israel's bombing—a war crime—of the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza you'll see today.
@i_fraihat: "Joseph Biden should be held personally accountable."
How dare @vonderleyen declare "Europe stands with Israel"?
She does not speak for me.
She does not speak for Ireland.
She does not speak for the citizens of Europe.
We stand for peace, international law and justice for the people of #Palestine.
It's time for her to go.
A UN official just told me civilians in Gaza are reduced to drinking sea water because clean water has run out. Body bags are running out, fuel for hospital generators powering ventilators will run out in hours. Food supply low. The bombing is intensifying. There aren't words.
