On the other hand, 1000 loyal fans x $10 = $10,000. No middleman. More artistes are testing that math. Still early but the direction is set.

0.003 per stream means 1M plays = maybe $600 for an artiste in Africa. Meanwhile, fans actually want to support. The solution is windowing releases via Personal websites/Bandcamp/Patreon then streaming later...or never. It’s a revolution. A quiet one, pioneered by @kennethmugabi
