If you're fortunate enough not to be fighting for your physical or economic life in this broken system, and you're not obsessed with climate breakdown and reshaping your life to do what you can to halt it, then I'm sorry but you have no idea how bad it really is.
A five-part thread on animations that turn dry data sets into startling snapshots of our warming world🌍 We hope you enjoy!

Earth is warming but not the same everywhere. This #dataviz shows the warming since 1960 at different latitudes.
It shows that in 2016 the Arctic was already 3°C warmer than the 1961-1990 average,
The last decade is more than 2°C warmer!

"Politics bared of spiritual awareness always leads to violence and the abuse of power. Spirituality without political engagement resembles an escape from the world.”

The public are being fleeced.
Public services are paying the price.
Since 2000, global
* Population has grown 25%
* GDP per capita has grown 52%
* Energy per unit GDP has improved 20%
* CO₂ per unit energy has remained flat
* CO₂ emissions have grown 50%
For global CO₂ emissions to go down, what has to change?
If you asked me: "which industry presents the greatest environmental threat, oil or media?", I would say "the media". Every day it misdirects us. Every day it tells us that issues of mind-numbing irrelevance are more important than the collapse of our life support systems.
Airlines’ CO2 emissions grew 4.9% within Europe last year, in contrast to the other EU emissions-trading sectors, which declined 3.9% overall. Carbon pollution from flying in Europe has risen 26.3% in the last 5 years – far above any other transport mode. https://t.co/5MsOCzOH0L
Quote of the day: The scale of CO₂ removal is "several times larger than the current oil & gas industry...essentially we need to build an industry that’s 3 to 4 times the size of the current oil & gas industry just to clean up our waste"

#IWD “My twenties were riddled with so much angst about what should I be doing with my life. I would say to my (younger) self just chill out, trust the process. You’re intelligent, you have the skills that you need. Go out there and follow your gut” https://t.co/6QJ7skyGIQ
We have ZERO years left to take action. Ten years is (an overly conservative estimate of) when we cross into dangerous territory in the absence of immediate action on climate.
“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them and do nothing”. Following #RebellionDay from NZ and standing in solidarity.
