The president of one of the largest unions in the world doing a press conference wearing an “Eat the rich” shirt after winning a labor victory is the hardest thing I’ve ever seen
The US is leading the world in:
- mass shootings
- incarcerations
- police killings
- COVID deaths
- student debt
- wars and interventions
- maternal mortality
- income inequality
- medical debt
- weapons
- train derailments
- CO2 emissions
- military spending
- high health costs
BREAKING: A Union Pacific train has derailed after hitting a truck in the Houston, Texas area. Some hazardous materials were being carried by this train.
Note to Republicans.: This one isn't Pete Buttigieg's fault either.
My father has been a train engineer for over 30 years. It scares me to imagine him being in that conductors chair in Ohio. Being put in that position with toxic materials and dealing with the lifelong mental and physical effects those workers will have. This can happen to anyone.
If railway workers aren’t recognized as a vital part of this economy how can they continue to provide safe transport of materials. Creating an unsafe workplace for them and the public they depend on their Unions to advocate. WE NEED LEADERS WHO WILL LISTEN.
It was only in September that Biden had worked with railway unions to achieve better conditions. Now, months later we see that ‘the backbone of the American economy’ is being exploited along with its workers.
Train engineers aren’t trained on hazardous material when transporting cargo. Along with being over worked and fighting with their Union for workers rights they have now caused one of Americas biggest environmental disasters.
Ohio is a disaster that highlights how under regulated the railway is! Derailment is not considered when huge corporations are using the ‘cheaper’ option. If they are not held accountable for putting these workers and citizens in harm who will fix this. How will this be prevented
Clean air > Corporate Greed
Clean water > Corporate Greed
Our Lives > Corporate Greed
So many communities will never be the same after the disaster in East Palestine.
