5 races, 4 state titles, 1 historic weekend! 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Tonganoxie senior Eli Gilmore became the first-ever Kansas boy to win the 400m, 800m, 1600, and 3200m in a single state meet, replicating a feat that only Jackie Stiles and Chesney Peterson have accomplished. Gilmore's feat will have him talked about for years to come!
Eli Gilmore of Tonganoxie becomes the first high school boy in Kansas to sweep the 400-800-1600-3200 in the same state track and field meet to win four individual titles. Two girls have accomplished the feat (Jackie Stiles, Chesney Peterson in the 400-800-1600-3200). Only 10 boys in Kansas history have won four individuals titles (no relays) in the sam day. His range is one of the most impressive things in Kansas history to be able to do this. He also won state XC in the fall. 30 years ago from today, his father Charlie won four golds (three individual, one relay) for St Mary’s Colgan in the state track and field meet. Incredible! #sportsinkansas
With his 1:53.95 in the 800 meter to take gold, Eli Gilmore becomes the first boy in Kansas High School history to sweep the the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races. Incredible weekend for the future Pitt State Gorilla.
