As far as slavery is concerned, it is a horrible institution not unique to the US, but it did, and still does cause upheaval.

@JoanneMason11 General Robert E Lee was an amazing General. He was asked by Lincoln to be the Commanding Officer for the North. He could not because he loved his home, Virginia, his loyalties lied with his home and heritage. Nobody could have done what he did. Hate the politics, not the man.
