@Stretchedwiener@pcfreak30@FYI_Im_Vince@TheMG3D probably should have pull my punches a little bit here. being frustrated at pro Gen-AI people who ragebait all the time isn't an excuse to outright insult someone.
I should grant, I only know how my mind internally works and what people tell me. nearly every artist/artist adjacent person I've asked on this subject describes their own version of having a picture in their head. but I didn't do scientific study, I didn't ask 10k people, I asked like 30~40 people. my 'survey' is likely hit a bias.
I technically was treating both as an insult here.
I'll admit I had one small aspect of aphantasia (and I did cross reference with google) was ignorant on my part. it doesn't make someone unable to describe and replicate images, just lacks the ability to see stuff in a minds eye literally.

that being said, my original jab with aphantasia was to comment on how the person I assumed is an AI bro (that being Vincent Jouty) thinks artists need a reference image to draw a bike or anything for that matter. and artist I know (and me personally on some level) usually describe a minds eye for how they can draw something without a reference image in front of them.
as for the object permanence insult, I am sticking to that one hard, a lot of AI bros do seem impressed by shinny colors or are addicted to ragebait, and I'm not sure which.
@GingerCoderSham@Stretchedwiener@FYI_Im_Vince@TheMG3D That's not how Aphantasia works.
Not seeing the red apple in your imagination doesn't mean you don't exactly know how the red apple should look. All the data/info is there, it's just not getting visualized as a mental picture
that is probably a far more correct take then what I generally lay down. but I do question how do some people miss what should be obvious issues in the AI art they had the machine create.
and, I'll admit some of thoughts on this are due to my drawing style but I personally would find it difficult if I couldn't form pictures in my head of the thing I am drawing or even working on. I almost think I couldn't do alot of things without being able to picture it.
maybe the problem is a lack of k-12 education in art classes, so some people never got pushed into at least trying to draw something.
while I did approach the AI conversation more peacefully a year or two ago. seeing people dismiss legitimate issues with AI(which I have not brought up here for context, but have in so many past conversations) by saying they lack the skills to do a task without AI, concerns me we have a larger problem with society. I'll fully admit maybe my assumption that the 4-chan level meme of people are literally NPC's is false and the real issue could be the removal of art class in k-12.
I've also had a fair share of insults thrown at me when I was trying to be nice, I've been called a Luddite, been told to adapt or die, and have been told skill issue (which for prompting is stupid because its about as complex as a google search). and there always a new AI garbage made post where the person is gleeful another industry will be replaced by AI and all the workers of it will be at starbucks or burger king.
(and I am leaving this here for context that I'm not a 'never AI' guy, I'm a 'lets not shove it into every orifice guy') I've given balanced takes on AI too, local computer LLM's for (some) software engineering I find alright. in my personal opinion, I am a pretty large supporter of alt tech and the industrialization of AI is worse then a local LLM. I highly suspect all these AI companies are copying down all the work you have it do, in for the situation where they can release their own version of your product, but that is more of one of many conspiracy theories on why AI is cheap to use right now.
I've used (for work) the best claude and cursor models the public has access to and I wouldn't trust that code to go to production without a strong look over. I legitimately don't see why 'AI artists' don't do the same with 'their' generated art. I have much deeper opinions on AI but I'll sum it up in programming that you should be able to do everything the AI can do in programming (with the AI being faster). the same can not be said for most 'AI artists' outside of my day job, I still write code completely by hand. its not a skill I want to atrophy because work is requiring me to rely on AI for the false sense of making us faster developers (and the choice literally is now, either use AI gen code, or not have a job)
there is morality reasons you could dive into to limit the use of AI, but its clear businesses are gonna business, even if it burns the environment, destroys local communities, and sacrifices all the jobs. and DOJ says a computer training on art isn't illegal for the moment.
kinda unironically tho.
I would (with multiple monitor screens) be playing minecraft in one screen, and reading either my notes or teachers power point in another screen. I'd play 10 minutes of minecraft, and read a slide/page of notes, and then 10 more minutes of minecraft.
its how I got through college.
oh I know, human memory works a little like quantum physics observer effect. to 'remember something' will also edit it.
but also not thinking about something will have it be overridden.......
although you had made it sound more like the person in number 3 didn't have a complete image in their head, and AI helped fill those gaps.
I obviously think majority of it is 1 or 4.
and 3 would almost say they have no object permanence as well...... which is another insult I have hurled at some AI bros.
2 also makes sense to me if they do have the ability to picture objects in their head, but maybe are just lazy. (lazy is one of my accounted for factors in AI use).
