@anisatweets@korriesmith90 and fullbringer.
sometimes it feels like the only thing hes missing is he isn't a bount too.... but no one watched that arc.
@Raynerdtech having a system that doesn't have random new apps installed by Microsoft themselves that consume 30GB of ram for no reason (cough, the weather app on day 1).
I know I turned down a full reviewer position on a code base I was messing with (not connected to this profile, it would leak my IRL's). I did it because there wouldn't be money in it (already had a full time job).
but I can tell, from an non-reviewer position of the multiple open source projects I use and have contributed too. vibe coders (pure vibe coders at least) produce much worse volume of nonsense slop then a good developer. I would argue that AI to a good developer only increases their development speed (and I wouldn't expect them to hand everything off to an AI in a serious project, they might in a demo or prototype project but even they would keep from the AI doing complete shit).
the problem with opensource software, that I would have expected you to realize, is your variety of developers is massive. you have people ranging from 9 year olds who did a little bit of minecraft modding in java, to people who have been programmers since it was a math degree only. I'll agree vibe coder will do better then a 9 year old.
I can say almost for certain (obviously you have 1 or 2 outliers), anyone serious in this profession, who does something a bit more complex then a just a website by hand, can make better code without AI then vibe coder with AI
