Final gingerbread houses were a huge success! Very proud of all my students for their creativity and true application of geometric problem solving skills. Totally worth the weekend of baking and the perfect way to wrap up our time before the Winter break.(2/2) #basdproud#mathed
Beginning stages of our College Math Project. Constructing custom gingerbread house blueprints in geogebra and testing our designs with cardboard prototypes. #basdproud#mathed (1/2)

What do the majority of math classrooms value? The process or the answer? @howie_hua is always an inspiration for the development of the thinking culture in my math classrooms.
So grateful for the wisdom & insight shared by @tguskey at @BethlehemAreaSD today. Traditions in grading have needed challenge over 100 years ago. With the last two years of education, the ways we emphasize learning over numeric grades is increasingly critical #MoravianAR

@MelissaNarducc1 @ziegeran I also like Padlet as a starting place for collaboration. Low risk to share your ideas anonymously and non-verbally. Great for brainstorming and giving everyone a voice.

@gabriella_nasta Yes! Students should be aware of their purpose in the class. The environment of learning needs people working together and supporting each other.
@ziegeran A7: In collaboration, students need to feel supported and safe to authentically share their ideas. Building respect and confidence in working through the learning process together is necessary. People in math class are so afraid to be wrong and we have to change that.

Visual representations of math are vital if we wish to build the foundation of understanding. Love the mixture of algebra tiles, base 10 blocks, and even the prime factor circles!

Curious if any math teachers out there could share creative or interesting ways they teach students. Currently student teaching in a virtual setting with Pear Deck, Zoom, and manipulatives apps. Working on slope-intercept form with Algebra I #edchat#edtechchat#edutwitter
Ayyy fam, you ain’t got to be the expert on everything. You ain’t got to have an opinion just because it is trending. Sometimes just sit one out and learn something. Your gift will make space when it’s your time.
@ziegeran It’s so true that real life math has messy numbers. High school students shouldn’t graduate without having the opportunity to study statistics. As a student, that is where my most engaging project based learning has taken place. #educ140MC
@luckybydesign@LSpencerEdD Love quizzes that emphasize being honest with yourself to learn who we really are. Embrace your strengths and be aware of areas of improvement. That's why we work in teams and collaborate. If you wanna go fast go alone, if you wanna go far go together. #dtk12chat#educ140MC
@MrsBissonSF Timing of the classroom can be a big constraint. There is pressure to rush through, but taking time to reflect can really help foster higher levels of critical thinking. #dtk12chat#educ140MC
