What is an "xVALUE"? It stands for "extracted value" and represents a human-assessed rating of a performance, calculated through an as unbiased and objective as possible observation.

The standard number is "6". The maximum is 10, although it can sometimes receive a certain number of "+" annotations to indicate particular greatness. On the other hand, there is no "bottom", theoretically we could go below 0.

Every action, movement, decision has a different weight. There are no fixed metrics. A good goal in a difficult moment could award the player more than +2, whereas a tap-in after a terrible performance could just mean a +0,5. Although flexible, it's not impossible to learn how to apply this methodology.

It was born to contrast automated rating systems based on useless and misleading stats.

⚽ Context:
Below average first half, but he entered the second half with a difference level of confidence. He scored a brace, one goal after dribbling past a couple of defenders inside the box, another with a great strike from outside of the penalty area. His contribution to the team also increased massively after his goals.

⚽ Context:
He played as a left winger, leading the attack thanks to his physicality and exceptional dribbling abilities. The assist to Erling Haaland's first goal was outstanding, that was exactly what the Norwegian striker needed for a header. Won many corners, duels. I'm sure the head coach will be delighted.

⚽ Context:
He will be probably roasted on social medias for his initial miss... and, to be fair, his first half was really underwhelming. But just like his teammate Rayan Cherki, he had a confidence boost as the win was becoming less and less in doubt for Man City. 2 assists to his name, nothing too incredible but we can say he recovered from his first half display.

⚽ Context:
The rating might look exaggeratedly high considering his few touches... the quality of his goals, though, shift the story completely. The header from Antoine Semenyo's cross was fabulous, not to mention the 4-1 strike that sealed the win. Quite literally destroyed the net. Reliable central forward.

@SouthBankMatt I thought I was the only one to find it annoying. It happens countlessly every game and it's all due to referees, who call even the slightest touch to an opponent's back "a foul".

Over the years, players have started to abuse this rule.
