Period poverty is a structural barrier. It affects dignity, attendance, and continuity.
At Joro Interfaith IDP Camp in Maraba, we trained over 60 women and girls to make their own reusable sanitary pads. Each pad lasts up to two years.
What had previously been a source of confusion, fear, or silent suffering became a condition they could recognize, address, and seek support for when necessary.

Our visit to Joro Interfaith IDP camp revealed a significant unmet need for menstrual health information and support.
While many of the girls had experienced menstrual pain, few had received guidance on evidence-based strategies for managing symptoms or understanding
when to seek medical attention.
Our goal was to demystify menstrual pain and provide evidence-based pain management strategies to these women and girls. We were able to help the participants better understand their bodies and their health.

We asked Nigerian women and girls questions about their periods that rarely get asked.
What do you wish people understood? How bad is the pain? What would you tell a younger girl? What do you wish would change?
These are their stories🤍

Last week we went to Joro Interfaith IDP Camp in Maraba. We restocked the pad bank, ran reusable pad training, and shared Period Mantra Books with over 60 women and girls.
That pad bank is still standing today. The skills those women and girls learned will stay with them forever
In honour of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we had Daniella Cole create this beautiful piece that explains the struggles of women and girls everywhere.
Today, we advocate for a world where women and girls of all ages and race and situation experience good menstrual hygiene
It’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day!!!
And we celebrate every girl and woman who bleeds.
Remember your period is not dirty. Your period is nothing to be ashamed of.
