Kikuyus do not hate this government enough. Alcohol is being cooked in the houses of elected leaders and it has already buried young men. I know three from Gatitu who died around May. Clubs were harassed and closed for three weeks, a performance of order, then opened again as they wished. Not one single club was finished. Soft enforcement. Hard graves.

Kikuyu Chief Seer Chege Kibiru has ordered a number of Kikuyu elders to return all the symbols of power that were given to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki last weekend.

During his traditional coronation as the Mt. Kenya region spokesperson on Saturday, September 19, 2026, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was presented with traditional elders’ regalia, including a ceremonial headgear (hat) and a traditional elder’s stool to sit on.

The items were bestowed by representatives from several regional councils, including the Njuri Ncheke, Kiama Kia Ma, Kiama Kia Muembu, Nyangi Ndiriri, and Ngome, as symbols of authority, leadership, and regional endorsement.
