PHOTOS: A new rehousing project in Kagugu, Gasabo District, is set to provide improved homes for 716 households, with construction scheduled to begin in January 2027.

• The Kabuhunde Rehousing Project will cover about 33.7 hectares and feature G+6 multi-storey residential blocks with elevators and dedicated parking.

• The project will also include internal asphalt roads, a wastewater treatment plant, landscaped public spaces, a market, and a pharmacy/clinic.

• Beneficiaries who currently own land or houses within the project area will receive new housing units based on the assessed value of their existing properties and applicable expropriation arrangements.

• The City of Kigali said the project is designed to improve living conditions while allowing families to remain connected to their communities, jobs, schools, and sources of income.

2. Many slum dwellers are migrant workers. not after good city life. They want to save/send money home. They move to another slum.
