Interior PS Raymond Omollo has warned drug traffickers that the government has stepped up surveillance and intelligence operations to curb the spread of synthetic drugs, which he said pose a growing threat to public health and security.
Speaking during the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Mombasa, Omollo announced plans to establish rehabilitation centres in every county.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir also pledged to cover rehabilitation costs for drug users through the Social Health Authority (SHA).
"The government has intensified surveillance and enhanced shared intelligence at our borders to curb drug trafficking crimes," Raymond said.
