DISASTER: When we say Kenya is being led by the worst possible criminals, some people think we are exaggerating.

First, they tried handing JKIA to Adani. Kenyans rejected it.

Now we are being told the project is linked to Wicknell Chivayo, a man whose name has repeatedly appeared in major corruption controversies.

The Adani proposal was reportedly around KSh 1.8 billion. Now the figure being discussed is over KSh 2.5 billion.

How does the cost suddenly jump by hundreds of millions?

I have learnt of the fire tragedy at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County with great pain. It is unfortunate that the early morning fire incident has left scores of our young girls dead and several injured.

I pass my deepest sympathies to the parents and families who have lostv their young promising daughters of our great nation. Please accept my deepest sympathies and my prayers for you.

To the injured students in hospitals, I wish you quick recovery. To the students and parents traumatized by this incident, poleni sana.

This tragedy remains an unfortunate event that should never have occurred in our modern day Kenya. I urge speedy investigations into this matter and those culpable of commission or ommission must face the full force of law.

As a nation, disaster preparedness and planning must be taken as an integral part of every government planning and not a knee-jerk reaction when disasters occur.

May the souls of our young girls who have lost their lives rest in peace and speedy recovery to the injured.
