The Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru Ramadan Lecture Series continued today with the Epe Local Government Muslim Community, fostering an atmosphere of faith, unity, knowledge, and spiritual reflection.

Under the esteemed guidance of our Chief Host, Chief Imam Sadallah AbdulRahmon Abiola, President General, League of Imams and Alfas, Epe Division, the gathering offered a profound opportunity for spiritual enlightenment and strengthened communal bonds.

Renowned scholar, Professor Morufudeen Shittu, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on faith and unity. His message resonated deeply, reminding us that true unity rises above differences and is rooted in shared values, compassion, and unwavering devotion to Allah (SWT).

I sincerely appreciate the presence of the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, for her continued support and commitment to initiatives that positively impact our people at the grassroots.

The session was graced by respected community leaders, distinguished scholars, and devoted worshippers, all united in purpose and reflection.

Today, I received Samantha Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, on a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina.

We signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalising our partnership ahead of Invest Lagos 3.0, our flagship investment platform for 2026.

The first two editions helped us raise Lagos’ global profile and connect serious investors to real opportunities. This year, we are going further, and through this partnership, we now have stronger access to capital and trade networks across the Commonwealth.

Our focus is that Lagos must attract capital, structure it properly, and turn discussions into projects that break ground.

Invest Lagos 3.0 will bring together top investors, development finance institutions, and corporate leaders who are ready to engage at scale. We will present investment ready projects in transport, energy, housing, healthcare, logistics, digital infrastructure, and industrial corridors, each with clear pathways to execution.

We are also launching the Lagos International Financial Centre to strengthen our position as Nigeria’s commercial and financial hub, while expanding access to long term capital for our MSMEs, who power this economy.

PRESIDENT TINUBU ACCEPTS EGBETOKUN’S RESIGNATION AS INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, APPOINTS TUNJI DISU IN ACTING CAPACITY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has accepted the resignation of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, following the submission of his letter citing pressing family considerations.

President Tinubu received Mr Egbetokun's resignation earlier today and expressed his profound appreciation for Egbetokun's decades of distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation. The President acknowledged his dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to strengthening internal security architecture during his tenure.

Appointed in June 2023, Egbetokun was serving a four-year term scheduled to conclude in June 2027, in line with the amended provisions of the Police Act.

In view of the current security challenges confronting the nation, and acting in accordance with extant laws and legal guidance, President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to serve as Acting Inspector-General of Police with immediate effect.

The President is confident that AIG Disu’s experience, operational depth, and demonstrated leadership capacity will provide steady and focused direction for the Nigeria Police Force during this critical period.

In compliance with the provisions of the Police Act 2020, President Tinubu will convene a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council shortly to formally consider the appointment of AIG Disu as substantive Inspector-General of Police, after which his name will be transmitted to the Senate for confirmation.

The President reiterates his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing national security, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring that the Nigeria Police Force remains professional, accountable, and fully equipped to discharge its constitutional responsibilities.
