Decency is free, yet it shapes the character of society. Stay aware, engaged, and strive to understand perspectives. Locally, statewide, and nationally, things are changing fast. Be informed beyond the headlines. Engaged citizens are the backbone of a strong, principled nation.
Wishing a very Happy Birthday to a great wife to Lance, awesome mom to Trace, a fantastic friend, a wonderful citizen advocate for criminal justice, public safety, and government reform. You are an incredible human being, @PollyForTexas. Have a wonderful day and another blessed year! 🎈🎈🎂🎈🎈
Glad as an organization you focus on the misconceptions and barriers!

BARRIERS TO PROGRESS
Two main obstacles stand in the way.
Misinformation
More than half of Americans incorrectly believe nicotine causes cancer. More than 6 in 10 physicians share this misconception. This false belief directly prevents adults who smoke from considering smoke-free nicotine products as a path forward.
Lack of Choices
Slow FDA review processes mean adults who smoke encounter limited smoke-free nicotine options in their communities compared to other nations.
@choicecoalition True, I just read a Fox News article with the same headline. People often confuse nicotine, a natural stimulant similar to caffeine, with cancer-causing tar, which is a mixture of chemicals, carcinogens, toxins, and smoke. 🌬️ 😶🌫️ 🚬
Dylan, thank you for such a thoughtful and sincere post. Your kind words mean more than you know.
Campaigns are built by people willing to give their time, energy, and talents for something they believe in, and I am grateful for everything you’ve contributed along the way. Thank you for your support, your friendship, and for sharing such a heartfelt message.
Another chapter has closed, friends. Thanks to everyone who helped volunteer and contribute over the last several months alongside #TeamKelly. The May Republican primary runoff is now officially concluded.
Last night was a mixed bag of outcomes, in my view, with the best part being the new people I met along the journey.
Congratulations to Jon Bonck for Congress (#TX38) and Orlando Sanchez for Harris County Judge on your nominations. Congrats to Cindy Siegel on winning re-election as Chairman of the #HCRP. I wish those I’ve known for over a decade, but didn’t support this election cycle, the best going forward for the sake of unity, peace, and results on the issues we care about.
The tactful and dignified leadership of the Honorable Patricia & Sam Harless will be remembered well and missed. Their family is classy and will remain a treasured part of the community. They always showed up and always followed through, even in times when they didn’t have to.
I speak from personal experience. Back in 2018, the candidate I was supporting against Sam and Gail came up 58 votes short of a runoff in #HD126. Both Patricia and Sam maintained polite contact with me, even endorsing my precinct chair campaign when they didn’t have to because they saw how hard I worked.
One night, Sam came to speak to the Eagle Scout troop of my friend’s son, who had run for the Klein I.S.D. School Board. The event was moved from St. Ignatius to nearby T-buildings. He walked through the rain and mud with me to speak to those young boys and their parents. They were thrilled to meet a lawmaker.
Neither of them ever had to speak to me again, but they did. They viewed me as a person and an involved constituent worth hearing and representing, even when we didn’t always agree.
Kelly Peterson ran a solid race, and I’m proud that we never spoke negatively about the opposition to voters. She is a caring problem solver, and I know it was the right thing to support her against the machine in what mounted into an uphill David vs. Goliath matchup.
Kelly loves her sons, cares deeply about those with special needs, and has a genuine heart for serving others. She has a Texas-sized heart for service and an undervalued skill set for getting things done, even when it is not flashy. Wouldn’t it be nice if we had more of that in Austin and Washington, D.C.? I sure think so. Her dedication and work ethic will undoubtedly continue to serve the community well, if she so chooses.
Thank you to Polly & Lance Looper for everything you and your family did to back the last true citizen outsider in the race. It would have been easy to fall in line, but y’all chose to go against the grain and stand behind the candidate you were able to partner with on behalf of public safety reform. Their fight to #FixFM1960 is far from finished.
Unfortunately, not everyone on the other side approached things the same way. There were repeated public incidents of vulgarity, bullying, aggression, unlawful electioneering, and even physical confrontations that crossed the line into legal territory. This behavior is unsettling and unsustainable if our goal is to remain a civilized society grounded in law and order. We must reflect and correct for the future.
At the end of the day, labels only mean so much. Character is revealed over time and under pressure by how you treat people and the example you set. All of us have been unmasked in the process and are known by the fruits we each bear.
Going into November, I encourage us all to choose integrity, respect, and honesty. Present the facts and information, debate the issues, and let voters decide. Be cordial, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
My planned late-April surgery in New York was delayed at the last minute due to an insurance issue. It has provided me more time to prepare. I understand the value of life and recognize that, as great as winning feels, it is not everything if it leaves you morally compromised. Your continued prayers are appreciated, and I look forward to what comes next.
“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” —2 Corinthians 4:8–9
Godspeed,
Dylan

@fakenewsdetect3 Sometimes, Republicans who missed the primary are not sure if they can still vote in the runoff. 🤷🏻♂️ 🤔 Not that difficult to understand...
Respectfully, one social media post from a husband supporting his wife’s race doesn’t outweigh that candidate’s judicial philosophy, courtroom experience, and record.
This is also the first time I’ve seen that post. I’m not interested in scolding a spouse trying to help their partner reach voters.
Judicial races in Texas were nonpartisan until the 1980s because judges are supposed to apply the law fairly, not act as partisan activists.
I support judges who defend the Constitution, uphold the rule of law, and interpret the law as written.
