Haha, I literally just had to apologize to a new rep with a vendor bc we have been a disaster to deal with on a big project. Had them quote one qty, then ordered less bc I thought I screwed up on the RFQ. Comes time to run the job, I realized I was right the first time so now they have to transfer more material from another location and get it to me ASAP. Then I emailed him bc he said the first shipment was delivered but my team swore we didnt have it. "Everyone looked for it." Shipping guy comes in 30 min later, "Oh yeah, I shoved it in a random corner and covered it".
@TheMattBeebe Let me know if you ever need help with labels/nameplates too! We have what I would assume are two competitors of yours right down the street (PDI and HDT) and have done a lot of work with them over the years.
Driving a few hours to hopefully pick up a new (used) daily driver truck. Talking to a business owner buddy this morning:
Me: “Yeah I’m excited but I haven’t even officially bought it yet and I have buyers remorse on spending the money”.
Him: “No, that’s just business owner guilt for buying something for yourself”
and he couldn’t be more right 😂😂.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. Especially to my dad, the legend who started our company out of an office in his house with three boys under the age of 6 in a town he had been in for 2 years. Zero network, no family close, and a dream to do things his way. Couldn’t be more blessed to continue his legacy.
When I was younger, I thought for sure prenup. As I got older I realized I would be nowhere without her. She is the reason for my success, she deserves half of whatever I have bc without her, there probably wouldn’t be anything in the first place. I get it if you are going into the marriage with millions of dollars but if that’s not the case, you are building a life together so it should be split evenly if it comes to that. If you aren’t building a life together then just don’t get married.
20 year old table with overhead light (built in house)+25 year old guts from an old press+frames from another 20 year old decommissioned press+some wood blocks and hardware=custom built screen printing press to print on 28,000 server rack parts that are 4”x4”x72”. This is what we do at Glavin ID, take the stuff that no one else can figure out and make it work.
I have a paid off 2017 Tahoe with 152xxx miles on it. I have that sneaky feeling it is going to turn into a money pit in the next 20k miles. I also want to get a decent price on it as a trade. Should I go spend the money now on a new truck or just wait it out?
This is awesome and totally nukes all the people out there that whine and complain when they can't find work or get fired because they can't just figure stuff out. I always push my team that at one point, I didn't know how to do any of this stuff either. I don't know the answers to a lot of the problems they bring me. But I have a knack for just figuring it out. It's def not always pretty but I don't have any special skills or talents that make me able to figure stuff out, I just jump in an do it.
Sometimes we print really cool stuff with awesome artwork for high profile customers. The rest of the time it’s simple stuff like rubber gaskets and little pieces of adhesive.
Having a "trusted source" for things you don't know how to do yourself is the ultimate super power. Took our company truck to a tire shop to get tires a few weeks ago. My regular mechanic doesn't love doing tires and is slammed so I decided to save him the headache and go somewhere else. Found what looked to be a locally owned small shop that focused on tires. They quoted tires, was in the range I was expecting so told them to proceed. They asked if we wanted an inspection for any other repairs to which I agreed. THEY CAME BACK WITH A $9000 ESTIMATE! I said, do the tires please and nothing else. Took back to my mechanic and he laughed, did $900 in work and sent me on my way. Some poor old lady or single mom who doesn't have a trusted mechanic would have probably paid the $9k thinking they needed to.
On the other side of the coin, I don't have a trusted plumber and I need some work done at the shop so I am going to have spend hours dealing with multiple plumbers getting estimates to see who is telling the truth and who is full of shit because I dont know any better.
Roll label finishing is a cool process to watch. This machine unwinds, laminates (liquid or film), die cuts, removes waste, splits into individual rolls, and rewinds.
Yup, we talked about all those things. I also told my buddy that if the operating partner is too busy to manage AR then he should take it over. It’s not like they have 50 open receivables, it’s prob no more than 5-10 at a time which would be super easy to manage (he has a sales job so some freedom with his time).
I have a friend who invested in a roofing company. Guy he knew wanted to go out on his own so he provided the capital and a truck to get them off the ground. He owns 15% of the company after a $150k investment. Business has been going great. Guy running the show called him last week in a panic because they didn't have the cash needed for payroll (company is still doing well, just had a cash flow shortage waiting on AR). He needed $15k asap. My buddy said he would either loan the company the money for 20% interest or do it as an additional investment for another 1 point of ownership. He called asking me if he did the right thing, I think he did.
Control panel overlays are a huge part of what we do. This guy was labeling his panels with a p-touch machine before we got him into these slick overlays. Cool product too, solar powered generators.
