Gleaning doesn't have to be about saving hundreds of kgs of produce. We're promoting an idea called 'Let's get ready to crumble!' which encourages you to talk to people in your local community with fruit trees to see if you can glean their surplus and make a scrumptious crumble!

Over the course of 3 weeks, @LoughboroughLio spent 5 days gleaning across 6 locations. They saved a whopping 215kg of fresh produce from becoming waste and instead distributed to local charities - well done!

Gleaning surplus fruit and veg and getting it to people who need it. Today East Anglia New Century Lions collaborated with @stillgoodfood and @felixprojectuk to glean 1500kg of onions in just 3 hours.

Farmers are unable to use around 16% of their crop before it even leaves the field or barn.
Gleaning ensures that some of this edible food surplus is redistributed to those that need it.

So far we’ve gleaned parsnips, pumpkins, squashes, apples and pears. We’re looking for volunteers to help with our organized gleans as well as farms where there may be an opportunity to glean.
