PUSANG LIGAW SA MT. APO

Nagbahagi ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Davao Region ng kuhang video ng mga feral cat o pusang ligaw sa Mt. Apo Natural Park.

Ikinababahala ng DENR ang sightings ng mga pusa sa lugar dahil sa posibleng banta nito sa wildlife.

"While feral cats are skilled predators, they are not native predators in the ecosystems of Mt. Apo. Their presence places additional pressure on wildlife that did not evolve alongside them, particularly species that forage on the forest floor," ayon sa post ng DENR Davao Region.

Kaya paalala nila sa mga bumibisita sa bundok, huwag pakainin ang mga makikitang pusa sa lugar. Iwasan din ang pag-iwan ng tirang pagkain o kalat.

"Hopefully, talagang totoo ito na tatanggalin na nila yung basura doon na tinambak nila for 7 years, and hindi namin titigilan yung pag-follow up para magkaroon ng accountability kasi long overdue, 7 years na yung basurang 'yon, yung ginawa na kalapastanganan doon sa mga katutubong Aeta. We really hope that yung documentary namin hindi lang makapag-inspire pero talagang makapag-challenge sa lahat ng mga LGUs na galangin naman nila at 'wag ibasura yung karapatan ng mga katutubo."

‘BAKIT GINANITO PO NILA?’

In the “Ibinasurang Paraiso” documentary of I-Witness, Kara David brought to light the story behind the mountains of trash dumped in the middle of a forest in Subic, Zambales.

“Parang nagagalit po na hindi ko po maintindihan ang sarili ko po. Naawa din po ako sa lugar. Bakit ginanito po nila?” Erlinda Capistrano, one of the residents in the area, said in the documentary.

“Itong lugar na ito, bangin daw ito dati. Pero ngayon halos napatag na ‘yung lupa kasi tinambakan nila nang tinambakan nang tinambakan ng basura,” David narrated. (YouTube/I-Witness)
