Did you know we have an amazing resource in WA - PhD & post grads working on projects in the Ag mechanical/engineering area, on real life mechanical problems? @GRDCWest Western Panel saw this work & met these super crew at UWA today! Thanks Andrew Guzzomi https://t.co/OI5zSwvv8v
Thank you to @SoilScienceAust for giving me the honour of presenting the 2025 Boodja Lecture on the impact that soil science has had in transforming WA soils for crop production. Also to the @AgInstituteAus for the excellence in agriculture award.
✨ Biggest congrats to our 2025 GRDC panel award winners for the Western region! ✨

SWAN-P1A: Trial #7 with Chad Reynolds, @wayneparker13 on Wests property. Q: how much lime to what of incorporation is economic and what is the maximum depth to achieve water-limited yield potential. We applied up to 14 t/ha and incorporated to 120 cm. @DPIRDbroadacre@GRDCWest
Merredin on a scorching 45-degree day, brainstorming solutions for the sodic soil challenges faced by WA agros. Also tapping into EBL's expertise and training our new team member, Shuangzi Z. Thanks to all past and present researchers who have contributed to this important work!

Der 50 Jahre alte Corey Comperatore wurde erschossen, als er seine Tochter vor den Kugeln des Trump-Attentäters schützte.
R.I.P.
@ipaddockapps@theGRDC I was wrong. I found the paper and even though bees increased yields, the number of seeds >1.9mm was less than without bees. https://t.co/zZ11HpM0cP
@ipaddockapps@theGRDC I think it was just an observation that more seed set early on the main stem which developed first. I’ll try and find the report for you.
@ipaddockapps@theGRDC Apparently years ago a research project at Wongan Hills RS using bees gave larger seed by pollinating more of the flowers on the main stem. Down side was the high number of bee boxes required and canola honey isn’t that great.
My friend wondered if the warning lights at this active crossing were faulty because he couldn’t see the train approaching when the loco appeared out of nowhere. Just another fatality waiting to happen 😔Imagine if the warning lights weren’t there!
How is this acceptable?
@culturaltutor Totally agree. Search for the the paper by the AMA ‘Human and environmental effects of light emitting diode LED community lighting’. They encourage the use of 3000K or lower. FYRLYT also suggest animals are easier to see. Just need a cheap low current LED that’s not white.
