The comments section of this post is depressing.
The men posing awful comments don’t realise that what they are saying is the very reason girls do not feel welcome to pursue careers in games.

Initiatives like this are important to overcome that. The games industry is so difficult to navigate, but a lot of women developers do succeed.

People also forget not every game is for them. And that’s okay. More diverse developers, whether gender, race or class means more diverse games and stories.

For everyone who says “where are the initiatives for boys?” There are lots of initiatives of kids of both genders to learn code, art, music and design. But it’s not the boys being told they aren’t welcome.

It’s not always easy being a woman in games. I like to think I’ve not been treated any different for my gender but the reality is I likely have I’m just choosing to ignore it and move forward. But we don’t want special treatment, we want an equal footing. But when you’re throwing mud, we start off sunk a little deeper.
