A mammoth, woolly rhino and a medieval village: the unexpected treasures beneath the A14 - great to see some very old friends getting recognition for their excellent archaeology - close to my daily commute https://t.co/vzpb6ak6g1
Fantastic couple of days down in Norwich. Superb lecture by @AmbKoji, dinner with the Lord Mayor and projections on the walls of the castle last night. Then today’s amazing #DigitalJapan talks and mini-festival! Well done all involved 🙌
A lot of @PaolaDiFranco2 work has been making 3D replicas of the headdresses from Star Carr @MAACambridge, allowing people to engage & experiment with these mysterious objects. Here's a 3D gypsum version @ThinkSee3D.
Now moving onto engagement with a digital 3D model via device. Has a different experience as well. Still a chance to explore, but in a different way. Then moves onto playful engagement with objects.
Now discussing the barrier of glass to museum visitors interaction with an object. The 3D print allows a different form of engagement - experimental, meaningful, engaged.
Paola's work fits in very well with the project we kicked off @FitzMuseum_UK this week on 3d training and tactile learning (and indeed do not touch experiences). She videoed people interacting with the 3D media, gesture tracking, engagement levels.
Then turning to the Why we post project from UCL. https://t.co/pGxbOXoNpM for more information. The online OA books have had 1/2 million downloads in the time of the project. 5 week @FutureLearn mooc had 12k active learners.
A bit info on Laura's research https://t.co/G8b56FUMZ5 Looking at health, aging and the smartphone. In Japan 26.7% pop over 65. In UK 18% over 65. Life exp. 80 ♂ for 86 ♀ Low birth rate.
