All men desire peace but they do not know how to attain it. St Paisios the Great, having lost his temper, begged the Lord to deliver him from irritability. The Lord appeared to him, and said, “Paisios, if you wish to avoid anger - desire naught, neither judge nor hate any man, and then you will have no anger.” Thus everyone who renounces his own will before God and other people will always be at peace in his soul; but the man who likes to have his own way will never know peace.
St Silouan the Athonite
"A person is in need, he suffers, and then somehow the other world opens up. The more you are in suffering and difficulties and are 'desperate' for God, the more He is going to come to your aid reveal Who He is and show you the way out" - Fr. Seraphim Rose
Come to the Lord, All Who Thirst
Wednesday - before the Sunday of the Samaritan woman
At the “Mid-Feast” of Pentecost we hear the Lord calling: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” If this is so, then let us all go to Him. Everyone will quench his thirst in Him—whatever he thirsts for, provided that the object of his thirst is not contrary to the Spirit of the Lord.
He who thirsts for knowledge, let him go to the Lord, for He is the one Light who truly enlightens every man. He who thirsts for cleansing from sins and for the calming of a conscience that burns within him, let him go to the Lord, for He has taken upon Himself all the sins of the world on the Cross and has torn up their bond.
Those who thirst for peace of heart—let them go to the Lord; He is that treasure for whose sake a man forgets all deprivation and despises all riches, being ready to leave everything in order to gain Him alone.
Whoever needs strength—in Him is all power; whoever seeks glory—with Him is glory beyond this world; whoever seeks freedom—He is the Giver of true freedom.
He will resolve all our perplexities, break the chains of passions, disperse all sorrows and grief, overcome every obstacle, every temptation and snare of the enemy, and direct our path toward the spiritual life.
Let us therefore all go to the Lord!

"Nothing is so foreign to Orthodoxy as lifeless scholasticism & icy rationalism. Orthodoxy before all else & above all is an experience & life of grace, & through that the blessed knowledge of God & the blessed knowledge of man. The Orthodox Church embraces the whole of life, with all its complexities, only leaving no place in it for malice & sin.” - St Justin Popovich
Children need to be treated with kindness, because they tend to be quite self-centered today and don't react well to scolding. If we start scolding them, they immediately become defensive or harbor negative thoughts.
