Governor Adeleke Says Osun to Key into $7.7 Trillion Halal Economic Strategy, Speaks at NEC Meeting in Abuja

Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed the desire of the Osun state government to key into the National Halal Economic Strategy of the Federal Government by creating a state's policy and implementation plan within the federal strategy.

Speaking at the National Economic Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the governor commended the federal initiative on Halal economy, calling it “a timely step to tap into the multi trillion dollar Halal economy that is already integrated into western and global economy”.

The governor who called for a subnational template for halal implementation assures that his administration will set up an halal economy committee to adapt the federal template and create a state programme for implementation.

He said the Halal economy has the potential to expand and deepen the Osun economy as its applications cuts across all economic sectors and is also open to multi-faith beneficiaries.

“I commend President Bola Tinubu for this initiative. Osun will work on an implementation plan to benefit all residents and indigenes. Halal economy covers financing, dietary requirements, infrastructure and ethical conduct in business relations”, the governor noted.

It would be recalled that Vice President, Kashim Shetimma had unveiled the national halal economic strategy, informing that the Strategy is “the result of careful study and sober reflection inspired by the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “to diversify exports, attract foreign direct investment, and create sustainable jobs across the federation.

“It is also the product of deliberate partnership, developed with the Halal Products Development Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, alongside Dar Al Halal Group Nigeria, with technical backing from institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa,” he added.

▪︎Campaign Council Releases Project Documents, Demands Immediate Answers From Omowaiye, Oyebamiji

The Imole Campaign Council wishes to state categorically that we are in possession of documents affirming authoritatively that Remi Omowaiye, Spokesperson of the AMBO Campaign Council, obtained approval for the release of public funds amounting to €248,281.25, $6,430.00 and ₦2,032,000.00 for the procurement and implementation of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) surveillance project intended to combat insecurity in Osun State.

The official memo, personally signed by Mr. Omowaiye in March 2018 as Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, sought approval for the acquisition of four intelligent surveillance drones to complement the Osun Emergency and Citizens Contact Centre.

The memo further requested approval for the sponsorship of two ministry officials to the Netherlands to supervise the manufacturing process and the training of ten personnel who were to operate the drones upon delivery.

Omowaiye himself admitted during a live television appearance that he indeed authored the memo seeking approval for the drone acquisition. It is therefore ridiculous that he has been unable to provide a meaningful answer to the simple question repeatedly raised by the Imole Campaign Council: Where are the drones?

The memo leaves no ambiguity regarding the financial commitment of the Osun State Government. It expressly requested and obtained approval for the release of €248,281.25 for the procurement of four UAVs and ancillary equipment, $6,430.00 for foreign travel and estacodes for two officials to the Netherlands, and ₦2,032,000.00 for local transportation and the training of ten personnel in Nigeria. The document further revealed that the project was to be funded through the Local Government Joint Allocation Account.

More importantly, the memo was not a mere proposal. It outlined in extensive detail the capabilities of the drones, their deployment locations, training arrangements, foreign inspection visits, and implementation timeline. It specifically proposed the deployment of four UAVs across Osogbo, Ede, Ikire and Ilesa to provide round-the-clock aerial surveillance of the state. The level of detail contained in the memo clearly suggests that the project had progressed beyond conceptual discussions and had actually been presented for execution with public funds as openly admitted by Omowaiye himself.

We observed keenly that while appearing on Western Spring Television's Morning Spring on Thursday, 18th June, 2026, Omowaiye kept deflecting each time he was asked about the drone acquisition.
Even more worrisome is the fact that Bola Oyebamiji has continued to retain Omowaiye as spokesperson of his campaign despite his denial and continued refusal to provide a straightforward explanation regarding the whereabouts of these drones which he claimed were acquired with public funds.

Governor Adeleke Condoles with Family, Muslim Ummah over Passing of Chief Imam of Sumuratul Mumenin Mosque, Sheikh Abdulateef Owolabi

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has received with shock the news of the death of Sheikh Abdulateef Owolabi, the Chief Imam of Sumuratul Mumenin Mosque, Osogbo.

The Governor described the late Islamic leader as an highly respected scholar, faith leader, and moral teacher whose lifetime was devoted to the service of Allah, the strengthening of Islamic values, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among people.

He noted that the late Imam was widely admired for his knowledge, and commitment to guiding the Muslim faithful, adding that his contributions to religious growth and community harmony will remain enduring.

Governor Adeleke stated that the passing of Sheikh Owolabi represents a significant loss not only to Sumuratul Mumenin Mosque but also to the entire Muslim community in Osun State and beyond.

He offered prayers to Almighty Allah to pardon his shortcomings, reward his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus, while also asking Allah to comfort his family, congregation, and all who were impacted by his teachings.

“His presence brought calm, direction, and spiritual strength to many. He will be greatly missed,” the Governor declared.

Osun Already has an Energy/Electricity Law and Plans, Says AMBO Behind News on State Governance

Governor Ademola Adeleke has knocked the APC governorship candidate for being behind news on governance development in Osun state, educating Mr Bola Oyebamiji that Osun state already has an energy law under implementation in response to the devolution of electricity matters.

Reacting to a statement from the AMBO group that the candidate is to unveil “Osun Strategic Energy Agenda”, Governor Adeleke in the statement from his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said stakeholders across Osun state used 2024 and 2025 to brainstorm on an energy law which has since been assented to by the governor.

From mid- 2024 and throughout 2025, a state energy bill was subjected to various consultations stages, leading to a validation workshop before it was submitted to the State House of Assembly as an executive bill.

The assembly while also processing the bill held its normal public hearings during which stakeholders from across the sectors contributed before the lawmakers passed the bill into law.

The bill passed into law was again reviewed by the Executive arm of government before Mr Governor signed it into law for ongoing implementation. The signing ceremony was widely publicised by the media.

The bill provides for a holistic policy and legal framework for the development of the power sector and it covers the creation of the electricity market system, introduction of alternative energy sources and the creation of a state electricity regulatory agency.

The agency regulates the granting of licences for power generation by members of the organised private sector and also manages relationship between the generating companies on the one hand and the relationship between power consumers and distribution company, the Ibadan disco.

The accusation by the APC candidate that Osun remains the only state in the South West without an electricity law and agenda is a lie from the pit of hell. Osun has a law that meets all standards and has potential to harness the economic potential of the state.

We also question the knowledge level of the APC candidate because the statement on the energy sector missed the need for a solid legal and policy framework for the devolution of the energy sector to materialise. The policy and legal foundations have been laid by the current administration with the implementation process now ongoing.

Rather than dishing out policy ideas based on ignorance, we call on the APC candidate to study the great advances of Governor Adeleke from energy, to digital economy to climate change economy sectors to shape whatever fake promises he intends to push out.

“Osun already has a robust electricity energy agenda whose implementation is already ongoing. Our state does not need fake packages designed to facilitate the addicts of the Osun APC for capital flights”, the state governor was quoted as saying.

In 2018, Adeleke defeated us before we later used "scope."

In 2022, he defeated us so convincingly that we couldn't even stand up against him.

EXPOSED: APC PLOT TO DISRUPT GOVERNOR ADELEKE'S CAMPAIGN FLAG-OFF

•Sets Hoodlums As Students Advocates For Abducted School Children

•Security agencies alerted to alleged plan to hijack public sympathy over Oyo school abduction tragedy for political purposes in Osun

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has received credible intelligence regarding an alleged plot by desperate opposition elements within the Osun State chapter of the APC to disrupt the official campaign flag-off of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

According to information available to the Council, certain APC actors recently held a clandestine meeting with some hoodlums allegedly recruited to disguise themselves as students, civil society activists, or advocates for the recently abducted school children in Oyo State, with the objective of staging a protest targeted at Governor Adeleke's official campaign launch.

If true, such a scheme represents a disturbing attempt to exploit a painful national tragedy for partisan political gains. It is particularly unfortunate that a matter involving innocent school children, their traumatised families, and the collective concern of Nigerians could be converted into a tool for political desperation.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, like millions of Nigerians, has expressed deep sadness and concern over the abduction of the school children and has consistently identified with victims of insecurity across the country. However, it must be stated that the Osun governorship election is a constitutional and statutory process governed by clearly established timelines and schedules determined long before the unfortunate incident involving the school children.

The official campaign flag-off of Governor Adeleke's re-election bid forms part of those legally prescribed electoral activities and cannot reasonably be linked to, or blamed for, a tragic development that occurred outside the state and beyond the control of the Osun State Government.

It is therefore disappointing that elements within the opposition would seek to manipulate public emotions surrounding such a sensitive issue in a calculated effort to disrupt a lawful democratic exercise. Such conduct, if allowed to proceed unchecked, would amount to a dangerous abuse of public sympathy and an attempt to undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

The people of Osun State are politically enlightened and can easily distinguish between genuine civic engagement and politically motivated spectacles designed to generate controversy, create tension, and attract undeserved public sympathy.

Civil Society Organisations in Ọ̀ṣun Demand for Redeployment of Ọ̀ṣun Commissioner of Police

Tension continues to mount in Òṣogbo and other parts of Ọ̀ṣun State following the recent violent attacks allegedly carried out by suspected political thugs. The attacks, which involved sporadic gunfire in several locations across Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Ẹdẹ, and the State capital, reportedly left a number of people injured while some lives were also said to have been lost. Residents have expressed growing concerns over the deteriorating security situation, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

Despite widespread condemnation and calls for justice, no arrests have been announced by the police in connection with the incidents as of the time of filing this report. In response to the development, members of the Network of Civil Society Organisations in Ọ̀ṣun State staged a peaceful protest in Òṣogbo earlier today, demanding urgent action from security authorities. The protesters called for the immediate redeployment of the Ọ̀ṣun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, alleging failure to effectively tackle political violence and bring perpetrators to justice. They also advocated a comprehensive overhaul of the Nigeria Police Force to restore public confidence and ensure the protection of lives and property.

The demonstrators urged the Inspector-General of Police and other relevant authorities to take decisive steps to prevent further violence and guarantee a peaceful political atmosphere in the state.

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) will on Tuesday 16th June, 2026 formally flag-off activities for the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke, marking the beginning of the journey to consolidate the achievements of the past three-and-half years and to highlight plans for future progress for Osun state.

The event, which will hold at the Freedom Park in Osogbo, the state capital beginning from 10am, will bring together political leaders, stakeholders, party faithfuls and citizens from across the state to reaffirm their resolve to sustain the current path of developments and build a more prosperous Osun state.

Under the campaign theme "Imole Carry On Accordingly", the highlight of the even will be the formal unveiling of over 10,000 new members into the Accord family, whi have decamped from APC, ADC and other political parties.

Some of the decampees are former members of the National and State Assembly, former commissioners and Special Advisers and prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress who recently defected from the party.

The decampees are mainly members of the State Executive Council under the administration of former Governor Alh Gboyega Oyetola.

The Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Boripe Local Government, Alh Kareem Afolabi will lead over 1000 people from Osun Central Senatorial District into the Accord.

Similarly, a former Secretary to the State Government under the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Alh Mashood Adeoti will lead thousands of people from the African Democratic Congress ADC into the Accord.

The event will also feature the formal endorsement of Governor Adeleke for second term by Workers' Unions, Groups, Artisan bodies, Associations, Organisation as well as other notable interest groups
