What is the point of Daeron's character in the show?
They cut his bravery at Battle of the Honeywine, where he earns the name 'Daeron the Daring.'
Removed Sack of Bitterbridge, where Tessarion burns the town.
Didn't even fight at Tumbleton, where he actually fought in the book

“In the Vale, Rhaena had enjoyed a life of comfort and privilege as Lady Jeyne’s ward. Maids had brushed her hair and drawn her baths, whilst singers composed odes to her beauty and knights jousted for her favor.”

EPISODE 3x6 of House of the Dragon proves what I have been saying from the very beginning: the writers of this show do not give two fucks about Fire & Blood. At this point, this is not even the Dance of the Dragons anymore. I genuinely don't even know what story they're telling now. 🤦🏾♂️
In my opinion, this episode was boring, terribly written, and filled with plot developments that either had no setup or actively made the original story worse.
1. Baela and Alyn are suddenly in love with each other... but how??? 👀When did this happen??? When were these feelings even established??? 😕 Things simply happen in this series because the writers want them to happen, regardless of whether they have actually done the work to develop them. This relationship is just the latest example - it comes out of nowhere and makes absolutely no sense.
2. Ser Criston Cole’s death is more underwhelming than I ever thought it would be. 🥱 I mean, why would Ryan Condal remove the most iconic line from the entire scene??? “I’ll have no songs about how brave you died, Kingmaker... There’s tens o’ thousands dead on your account.” Why are powerful, memorable lines like this constantly being removed from the adaptation??? Criston’s character had already been ruined since the beginning, but I think this death scene was definitey the final nail in the coffin. Even when the writers are handed a brilliant conclusion directly from the book, they still somehow find a way to make it a lot less interesting. It's truly astonishing.
3. Rhaena’s storyline being merged with Nettles was also exactly as terrible as I expected it to be. They removed a unique character, gave her story to Rhaena, and somehow managed to make the entire plotline more boring and stupid. I mean, how is Jeyne Arryn casually slapping the rider of Sheepstealer in front of everyone??? 🤔 Rhaena is now bonded to a massive, dangerous dragon, yet Lady Arryn still treats her as though she's still a powerless child. Ridiculous.
4. Then Lord Roxton apparently teleports across Westeros, arrives in the Crownlands and captures Corlys Velaryon?? 🥴 How did any of that happen? Why is this storyline even taking place when it does not exist in the book???
5. And Alicent is apparently an assassin now??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, what the fuck is this story??? What are we even watching anymore??
6. The treatment of Lord Ormund Hightower may be the most insulting part of all. In Fire & Blood, Ormund is a courageous commander who fights valiantly beside his men. In House of the Dragon, he cannot tolerate unpleasant smells and vomits at the sight of blood. The show seems determined to humiliate every Green character it touches, turning capable and respected figures into pathetic jokes. Fuck off, Ryan Condom. 😤😤😤
This episode was terrible. It was boring, incoherent and completely disconnected from the story of the Dance of the Dragons. The writers are no longer adapting Fire & Blood; they are using its characters and names to tell their own fan-fiction... and it sucks ass.
No wonder George R. R. Martin wants nothing to do with this nonsense. 🙄
