I love Michigan football more than I can really explain, which is exactly why I’m not going to sit here and pretend everything is fine.
It’s not.
This is a bad football team right now.
We’re 3-2. We’ve lost two straight Big Ten games. We just lost to Minnesota for the first time since 2014 and for the first time IN Minnesota since 1977.
And somehow the final score doesn’t even explain how bad that felt.
I genuinely don’t understand what we are trying to accomplish offensively.
We constantly run sideways instead of getting downhill. We keep going back to concepts that aren’t working. We get into short-yardage situations and somehow make getting ONE YARD look like the hardest thing in football. We have Bryce Underwood’s athleticism at quarterback and still manage to make this offense feel predictable.
The Wildcat stuff has to stop.
The sideways running has to stop.
Trying the same thing over and over when the offensive line clearly isn’t creating those lanes has to stop.
At some point this isn’t bad luck anymore. It’s coaching.
You cannot keep watching the same problems happen every Saturday and expect people to believe it’s eventually going to magically fix itself.
And Bryce has to be part of the conversation too.
I have defended him. I WANT him to be the guy. I want nothing more than for Bryce Underwood to become everything Michigan fans thought he could become.
But 10/21 for 101 yards and 2 interceptions isn’t good enough.
It just isn’t.
Maybe the coaching is hurting him. Maybe the system isn’t putting him in a position to succeed. Maybe his confidence is shot. Maybe he simply isn’t ready right now. It’s probably a combination of things.
But something has to change.
And I’m not going to do the usual fan thing where I say “win out and we’re still alive.”
I don’t believe that right now.
I don’t think this is a playoff team.
At this point I’m not even confident Michigan wins many more games if this is the football we’re going to play every week.
That hurts to type because I LOVE this program.
Saturday is something I look forward to all week. Michigan football is something I watch with my family. I spend all week talking about this team, making edits, defending these players, arguing with rival fans and convincing myself that Saturday is going to be different.
And then you watch THAT.
The defense gives you opportunities and the offense does absolutely nothing with them.
Michigan had 180 TOTAL YARDS today.
One of our two touchdowns was a PICK SIX.
We scored 14 points and the defense literally scored half of them.
That is unacceptable at Michigan.
I’m not asking for 50 points every week. I’m not asking Michigan to turn into some air raid offense and throw the ball 50 times.
I’m asking for an offense that looks like it has an actual identity.
Something.
Anything.
Because right now I have no idea what Michigan’s offensive identity even is.
And the most frustrating part is I’ll be right back here next Saturday.
I’ll put the Michigan gear on.
I’ll watch every snap.
I’ll probably convince myself before kickoff that maybe THIS is the game where everything finally clicks.
Because I love Michigan.
That doesn’t mean I have to lie about what I’m watching.
This team is poorly coached right now.
This offense is broken.
The quarterback play has not been good enough.
The play calling has been awful.
And unless something changes FAST, this season isn’t going to end with us wondering whether Michigan made the playoff.
We’re going to be wondering how a season with this much talent went this far off the rails.
I hope they prove me completely wrong.
Please prove me wrong.

@sickbillygoat_6@story16327@Blue2Bongo I can agree, however with them idiots calling the plays and everything else, I don't see how it fixes their issue. It's more than just a QB issue. I agree, to an extent.
@story16327@Blue2Bongo Are you not paying attention to the fact that putting in Carr with do NOTHING with Kyle and Jason Beck calling the shots. The OLine is fucking ass, the coaching is just as terrible if not worse. Putting in Carr does nothing with them idiots at the helm.
