Powerful start to the school year with @chrisemdin!
All kids should know they have:
The right to be here.
The right to feel.
The right to act.
The right to love and be loved.
The right to speak truth to power.
The right to see.
The right to know.

“People rise or lower themselves based on the expectations you have of them - lowering expectations is not love. Thank you @chrisemdin for saying what needs to be said.
You know you are in a great training when 4 days have passed & you don’t want @PaulaMaeker to leave! So excited &grateful to work w/our guiding coalition to make @GullettElem a school like no other place. Thank you @DrDiaz_AISD for supporting this work! @AISDElementary
@DrDiaz_AISD @PaulaMaeker @AustinISD@Matias_AISD@JenniferPace_TX So grateful our district is supporting this work in an authentic way with teacher leaders as partners. Appreciate the time to talk and process these ideas with my amazing teachers. @PaulaMaeker is fabulous!
TEA’s Teacher Vacancy Task Force final report was released back in February. It focused on 3 key areas: Compensation, Training/Support, & Working Conditions. What happened to #txlege focusing on these key areas? Instead bills such as #SB8 are attempting to divert monies from #txed and add additional testing.
#SB8 that aims to divert monies from #txed along with additional testing.
#SB9 creates Teacher Retention Allotment to increase teacher salaries by $2K in districts with 20k+ students, $6K in districts with less than 20k. Only to be provided in the 2023-24 school year.
#HB100 increases student allotment by $90 from $6,160 to $6,250 rather than what is needed.
What can you do? Tell your legislators to protect and support public ed.

Such a great week getting into classrooms with our teams of teachers! Both affirming and inspiring for staff. Thankful to work with teams that are reflective and willing to grow! @GullettElem
We have such incredible teachers at Gullett!! There were so many takeaways and discussions about vertical alignment, class engagement, authentic assessment, and student agency during our learning walks this week! #AISDproud
Our second graders repurposed limbs that fell during the ice storm into beautiful artwork for their gardens.
We are so grateful for our gardening volunteers for helping with this project!
