It’s really telling how economism is a comfort blanket for the left. A whole warm bath of useless orthodox discourse here to sink into and not have to think.
@BIforPeace Driving is the one mode of transportation that means you never have to wait on someone to come pick you up, like an uber or taxi, or are stuck to a timetable someone else created.
You can literally just get in the car and go on a whim.
Counter terror police stopped and interrogated an independent cafe owner, in order to intimidate him before offering him financial benefits to spy on Palestine Action.
Instead of taking the offer, he went public to expose the state. https://t.co/VW5M75luYm
'co-living' is horrific -- packing people in like sardines so developers can squeeze even more profit out of them.
living in a space as small as this drives you crazy.
Another gift from the progressive left wing Greens:

i think that everybody doing the "it's good that Zack Polanski is getting scrutinised; green politicians are not above criticism" thing:
1. are extremely dimwitted
2. have zero memory of the Corbyn years
3. are the most naïve, gullible fools going
three hours prior, so what, the police were alerted to an active threat and they just left him to do his thing until someone got seriously hurt? that’s dead good policing that. no wonder they think booting people’s brains into liquid is clever
"i was frightened, and he was wearing a bulky vest that i thought could have explosives in it. i had just seen him seriously hurt other people, so i felt it was necessary and proportionate to kick that cop repeatedly in the head, your honour."
think it'll go down well?
very notable that nowhere here does he say officers followed their training: clearly, they didn't. he says they were frightened, that they thought he could have had an explosive vest and so that's why they kicked him. he knows they were out of line, hence this whole song & dance.
There are elections next week, and you should notice that the pretence of impartiality just goes straight out of the fucking window, any time the dirty hippies get too big for their boots and need a good stomping back down.
@BikeSgt what is policing by consent, if not the immaterial opinions of those who haven't, couldn't, didn't, wouldn't? do you believe in public scrutiny (policing by consent) or not?
if policing can’t be accountable to ‘observers with little experience of policing in the real world,’ who I would tend to call ‘the public,’ it can’t be accountable to anyone. realistically it never has been, but you’re still losing something when you give up the pretence
“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.”
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.
