Sitting at the airport reflecting on the fall for @spectsbaseball…
A few things stood out about why this program is so special for our @mnicemen players — and for all the partner orgs in the system.
1️⃣ It represents what “connected baseball” really means.
Players who have competed against each other for years in the Midwest now come together on the same Spects rosters — building lifelong friendships and trust. In a world where so much of youth baseball has become transactional, this is something different.
2️⃣ The 2027 group that just won the WWBA Underclass Championship has had the same core since they were 13.
They’ve grown up together, learned together, failed together, and now win together. They play for each other — because they feel they owe that to one another.
3️⃣ I’ve gotten to know these families on a real level.
From helping with college guidance to talking through off-field challenges — these relationships are genuine. That’s what makes it worth it.
4️⃣ The Spects National brand has never been stronger.
Three national championships this fall — 2027 PBR Cup, 2028 PBR Cup, and 2027 WWBA Underclass — all earned by blue-collar Midwest kids proving they can play with anyone in the country. The north continues to be underrated, and it’s time that narrative changes.
Taking over as President, my goal was simple — get the train back on the tracks.
This fall, that’s exactly what we did.
I couldn’t ask for better partners who all share one goal: do what’s best for the players.
In a world full of transactions, come be part of something bigger.
Come be part of Spects National!!!

St Mary’s- 89.6 mph average beat number one overall seed
VCU- 89.4 mph average knocked off Tennessee
Washington State- 88.2 mph average was a P5 school until 2 minutes ago
UW Milwaukee- 90.2 mph 2-0 and in regional final
Little Rock- 90.1 mph beat USM and are 2-0 in the regional final
But hey, U Miami rolled a stable of 93-97mph arm out of the bullpen who couldn’t throw strikes and got absolutely blasted

Good start on the mound today. Went 7 shutout with 8 K’s and got up to 88 twice. Only allowed 3 hits while being 71% in strikes on the day. Feeling good and ready to keep pushing!
@jlavin@MSHSL@osseo_baseball Lavin… I can understand why you don’t think 324 over 10 days is a bad thing… there’s a reason why you’re not there anymore, only issue is you must have poisoned the new guy.
When will the @MSHSL start prioritizing the long term health and safety of Minnesota high school baseball players?
New year, same concerns. On the first day of section play, @osseo_baseball allowed a starting pitcher to throw 120 pitches. Even more concerning, under current rules that same player could potentially return and throw another 115 pitches on just three days of rest.
This is not about being a pitch count extremist. There are absolutely situations where a pitcher may safely work beyond 85 to 90 pitches depending on efficiency, stress level of innings, recovery between innings, velocity trends, mechanics, and body language on the mound. But routinely pushing high school athletes past 95 to 100 pitches during spring baseball is irresponsible.
Instead of normalizing excessive pitch counts, we should be teaching efficiency, command, and long term arm care. When pitchers understand there is a standard for workload management, the focus shifts from chasing velocity to executing pitches and working efficiently.
Players may feel fine today, but consistent overuse during the spring season can create long term consequences that may not appear until years later. Many of these athletes will immediately transition into full summer and fall schedules with little recovery time. Without proper strength training, recovery protocols, and workload management, injuries become a predictable outcome of overuse.
@MSHSL this is not complicated. Follow established Pitch Smart guidelines and implement standards that prioritize player safety across Minnesota high school baseball.

@CCollege182@BlindZebra39@BrandonPollis@MSHSL@osseo_baseball In Mn sections you can go to 115, he was at 114 going into the 7th and threw 6 pitches to the leadoff hitter.
You then can throw another 115 on 3 days rest, this particular player is a SS as well and I would imagine they will put him there tomorrow.
