Update on Efe Demirel...
@CBB_Central posted this follow up message regarding the new international ruling:
"If you already made it through the clearinghouse (IE guys who played last year in college) there’s no way they can unwind that. So like Dame Sarr remains eligible"
Here is exact verbiage from @CBB_Central on the potential ruling for "Less lucrative" leagues.
I am SURE the NCAA will do an honorable job on the case by case basis right? Right?
If passed, could be another massive "Wow how'd we step on this rake?" situation by NCAA.
All in all, not saying Efe is clear or saying Efe is in serious jeopardy of losing eligibility. And to be honest, it all feels a little hopeless trying to make sense of these sorts of things with the NCAA.
Just wanted to make sure I call it out!
I don't want to get people too worked up with a potential Friday news dump regarding International players...
But GCU big guy Efe Demirel did play pro in Turkey. While focus seems to be on official Euroleague play, it looks like all pro play could be under the microscope.

If this new rule is enforced as written, at least half of college basketball's preseason top 25 teams just lost one or more starters.
Dropping it in May, with no replacement options available, makes very little sense.

Very important piece of info here.
I'll say it plainly... The MWN last season was a disaster, and a very bad product.
Excited for this next iteration! And please, PLEASE. Find a way to get the foul count/bonus on the scorebug.

Excited to have new Lopes guard Amarion Dickerson on the pod!
Episode will be up tonight, and can't wait to talk about his decision to come to GCU, his impact on winning, and how much he is looking forward to getting back out on the court.
Stay tuned!
Mountain West News: Eric Olen gets a new deal at New Mexico. This doesn’t mean he won’t be a name in coaching searches in future, but does up the ante on what UNM receives if he does leave.
BREAKING: UNM, Eric Olen agree on new five-year contract

Salary pool goes up, so does buyout if Olen leaves for another job. https://t.co/PHmGOigCOW via @ABQJournal
Some really fun coffee in hand Saturday morning reading here from Ricky. Busy offseason for Mountain West, and lots of new names and a ton of talent incoming even with the "Pac 5" gone.
Mountain West Basketball transfer portal rankings and Top 20 incoming transfers from @EvanMiya projection data.
Does not include incoming freshmen or first year foreign players.
UNM has 3 of the top 5 transfers (Mayes, TVF, Petraitis)
GCU has 6 of the top 20 transfers.
@MidtownMadPod I know Stu reported that as well, but that definitely contradicts what ASU reporter is saying here. So we shall see.
Either way, hope we get SLU/GCU!!
Oklahoma, UCLA and Oregon State will be on Randy Bennett’s first non-conference hoops schedule. The team will also play in Acrisure Series in Palm Spring in the South Carolina half of the bracket. Still about six non-conference games left to be scheduled.
