I was around in 2009. I saw what was going on. I thought it was normal & fine & wonderful.
Nearly 15 years later, I know that none of it was.

@soNoDGsny0hyI5C The honest answer is no, not of the reported accounts. Younger victims were removed before things went too far, and Alice’s actions with legal adults were carefully calculated (as in, waiting until after a person turned 18).

It’s been over a year since the discourse started & I still can’t believe how many people saw the personal stories of Alice Ripley interacting inappropriately with teens and thought to, at best, think it’s totally fine and, at worst, victim blame.

Against my better judgement, I watched the clip of “I Miss the Mountains” from the immersive Next to Normal. My personal feelings about Alice Ripley aside, I don’t think it’s that good. Either the acoustics are horrible or the sound designer made some not great choices.

The projections around the room don’t feel like they match the moment.
And the direction seems to be “turn around slowly so everyone can see you.”
Additionally, it seems as though Alice is giving the same performance she gave nearly 15 years ago. No growth. No change.
